I just went back to look at the treatise, and this chapter probably explains why Annie is holding a White Legs. Possibly the birds Kat is holding too.

So what are the odds that it's end of chapter here? Low, probably, though a lot of comics would take the cheap punchline here and assume Annie was filled in later, even though the readers are still kinda boggled ourselves.

Well, we still don't know what Jones is, even though Annie does. Still, there's bound to be a twist.

I'm imagining that we were in a dreamland from the dark panel onwards. It's why Zimmy gives her little 'heh' next strip when Kat says she didn't hear Zimmy come in.

Mind telling me what's going on? How would Kat know, anyway? Zimmy punched Annie's father. Gamma took Kat's hairband. Assuming Kat doesn't say something about having a weird dream, what does she know?

I just realized the reason Annie looks a little odd to me in this update. Rather obvious once I realized it, though. She's not wearing her eyeshadow. I wonder if she just didn't wake up one morning.

I like the subtle lines under her eyes on the third panel in the second row. Even though she's awake you can tell whatever it was had taken a toll on her.

I never read Gunnerkrigg the first few times I was linked it because if featured an eleven year old schoolgirl in eye shadow, lip gloss and what appears to be false eyelashes and hair extensions. And the first page is her doing an over-the-shoulder pinup pose. It was Creepy As gently caress, essentially. It recovered obviously, but overly sexual depictions of eleven year old schoolgirls in a creepy dark boarding school is kind of a worrying place for a webcomic to start.

It sounds like you're incredibly terrified of being labled a pedophile because you read a webcomic about a young girl going to school. So instead, you came off as a pedophile because you thought a girl of 11 looking bored was sexualized. *I can't spell "bored".

You're really loving weird dude, she had a football head and a frumpy brown sweater, not sure how anyone can look sexualized (especially as an 8 year old) with those features. And no, that's not a pinup pose in the first comic.

It's fine, you're very clearly not a pedophile, you're just an rear end in a top hat. I'm seriously amazed anyone could find "looking over one's shoulder", something that most regular humans do, a tantalizing act. The make-up thing is not even suspect in the least, not everyone wears cosmetics in attempt to look alluring. Also "hair extensions and false eyelashes" are really reaching. Do you know what either of those things actually looks like?

To be fair, I was being an rear end in a top hat too, with the pedophile comment, which I shouldn't have done, so I apologize for that. That said, it got me to re-read Gunnerkrigg Court from the start, so that's a bonus.
