Ho man, Ranger with Deathly Arrow fully charged and Blast Arrows equipped vs. a Cyclops. Pretty much knock that dude straight on his rear end with one shot Blast Arrows are funny as poo poo against bandits as well.

I have a quick question. The one French-accented knight I escorted the hydra head with had another escort mission from the board. However, I wandered into a cave to see if there was a shortcut and after a quick cinema of some guys ambushing me she dropped dead and I failed it. I'm just wondering if that really boned something later on down the road, or if it just means I can't do anymore quests with her for awhile or something.

Oh man, the lightning richochet arrows magick archer gets are hilarious in the Everfall dungeons. I lured a cyclops and pack of grimgoblins into a small room and started spamming it, and it was just nonstop ZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAP, stunlocking every one of them until they all died.

So I beat the game today after a huge marathon session. I really wish they had the same amount and quality of story telling throughout the game that they had in the post game. There were a few cool story moments here and there, but it was pretty sparse until the end. I kind of want to do a full NG+ to try out the other classes, but at the same time I don't really want to slog through a near total lack of plot for 20 hours. Is there anything interesting worth doing on a second run? I don't mean to come off as disliking the game, I'd say it has the best gameplay out of any RPG I've played, it just has some really poor story telling.

The Divine Surcoat doesn't really look anything like the other surcoats. It looks more like something someone would have worn in the Crusades. It's long, and grey, and has a cross on the torso. One of my pawns must have picked it up while venturing through the Everfall, because I'm not sure where exactly I got it. I certainly didn't buy it from some merchant.

Wow, this game has been a blast. Picked it up on launch day and well, I've never had so much fun faffing around in a game. So far, Ranger has been my favourite class. There's nothing quite like guiding an arrow into an unsuspecting goblin's head and launching him into the sunset. Was also impressed at the scale of the sorcerer spells. Before I went strider --> ranger I maxxed mage and sorceror. High maelstrom is a thin of beauty; especially when you have another pawn that casts it along with you in a cave! Everything was going swimmingly, I beat the game and found out my "true love" was Julien, that poncy knight with the blonde hair. Had quite the awkward scene of the Arisen lying down on top (?) of Julien by the campfire...this game. My pawn, Mr. Burleigh seems to be doing pretty well and has been hired a few times. I made him a fighter as a utilitarian/scather and he seems to do pretty well. These pawns are surprisingly scrappy. I think I've trained Mr. Burleigh to chuck explosive containers at harpies and to hold guys for me. It's working out pretty well. There is some degree of bs in the game, like how some quests simply just cancel without warning, but I suppose that's what NG+ is for. Overall, this game has been tons of fun. Still have post-game to go and am exploring the mystic archer and knight classes. I wasn't too keen on mystic knight before, but now that I've discovered the cannon+ruinous sigil combination, its very powerful!

Yeah, the lack-of-story-but-tons-of-fun thing is pretty spot on. I'm actually tossing around the idea of making an alt xbox profile and starting up a whole new game myself. A lot of the fun of the game came from nearly getting my rear end kicked everywhere I went. I got to relive it a little bit in the Everfall. I think it took me exploring the dearth of content that is south of the Shadowfort and west of the thieves fort that finally made me start progressing the story to Gran Soren during my first playthrough. I remember walking all the way out to Bloodwater Beach at level 10, running the gently caress away from the first golem I saw, but slowly realizing that a huge chunk of game land was empty plains and goblins. Someone in the thread mentioned they wanted to see more randomized enemy spawns, and I think that would be awesome for a future sequel.

Yeah, I really wish that the game world got "shuffled" at certain points in the story, changing up spawn locations and globally upping the difficulty. Like the postgame transition, but less drastic.

Hopefully once the dumb fetch quest DLC runs out, they'll release some proper quests and content. There's a noticeboard quest in the post-game to fight it called "I'm calling you out" (or something like that) that sends you out to the Shadow Fortress. The message is just listed as from ??? so it's not immediately obvious what the hell it's all about. You fight it in the same area you fought the cyclops for the silver idol, assuming you did that quest.

Goddamn, got my pawn 6 loving levels through Ranger and I still haven't finished Magic Archer. I just want to switch to Warrior already and mindlessly hit things for a change instead of sniping away like I've been doing all game. How do I know if a NPC's affinity is high? I heard something about pink sparkles, but I haven't seen anything like that. Trying to cheer up Mercedes, she looks pretty down with that whole "please leave me alone, I'm planning to go get drunk tonight" so I gave her a shitton of stuff with the Magic Archer Augment that doubles affinity bonuses. I don't see any sparkles, but when I talked to her after I was done it played a little chime or something? And then I went back to the Inn and the stupid innkeeper also has it playing, guess I need to go punch him in the face until he stops that or something.

They'll get a pink halo when they're at max affinity, it's not super amazingly bright or anything, I missed the fact that Madeleine had one for quite a few visits. Their dialogue will also change and they get that chime sound you mentioned. Plus, if you check under History in the pause menu you can see the number of people (male and female, no names though) that have affinity maxed out. Besides giving them stuff, doing their quests will raise it, and escort quests will either max it out, or just raise it a whole bunch, not 100% sure which. edit: I'm actually not sure if the halo and chime mean they're at maximum affection or if it shows up once you start getting close to it.

I'm worried that my pawn's brain is broken. She used to be pretty aggressive and was always at least doing something, but now I've caught her just...standing around, daggers at the ready, monsters sometimes right in her face but she's just staring into space. I tried changing her inclination with some elixirs (specifically from scather to utilitarian hoping that she'd start using her abilities more) but she still just stands around. Sometimes she won't even follow me when I start to leave an area--just stare at a wall until I hit a load screen.

Starting a new game is definitely worth it, the vocations are so different that my three playthroughs have felt completely distinct despite using largely the same appearance for my Arisen/pawn and using several of the same vocations to get certain augments. I'm only halfway through my third run and just playing Warrior has made it completely different.Krackleburt posted:The Divine Surcoat doesn't really look anything like the other surcoats. I just assumed it was always Quina since it's in your hometown and she was back in her village clothes, but apparently that's not true.

I've gone a bit crazy with the reusable metamorphosis, through a series of iterations my pawn has almost become Mercedes. If you replaced her in-game character model with my pawn, you almost wouldn't notice - something about the eyes isn't quite right, but she could definitely be an identical twin or somesuch. Time to start the game again and succeed in her escort mission to get her shield. Has anyone else had success at recreating an in-game character as a pawn? It's harder than you think! Edit: Nevermind, I think she's as close as I'm gonna get to her now. Send me a friend request (Borgle92, PSN) if you want a look-see, I'll work on her moveset soonish, solo assassin is just too drat fun though. I'm also playing solo assassin, except I can't be bothered to kill my pawn off so I just let him put down firewalls and whatnot whenever he feels like. He's like a mascot, or a perpetual escort mission. If I could ask him to guard the Union Inn that would be great. The crossover between classes is a bit unclear to me. I maxed out Strider before taking Assassin and now I'm one pip from maxing out Assassin, but was there any point to leveling Strider? Are there Strider skills which aren't disabled while an Assassin, but which you couldn't take as an Assassin anyway? After I max out Assassin will I get any mileage out of leveling Ranger or Fighter or something? I was so bummed when Assassin disabled my Mad Dash. Wind Harness is totally not the same thing.

The main reason for leveling classes you don't think you'll play as is for the augments - for instance, level 9 strider augment lets you carry Average weight equipment and move as though you are Light encumbrance, and so on for the other levels. Assassin skills can be used only as an assassin, unless they are shared by other classes - there's little icons down in the description for the skill. And once you reach level 9 assassin, ditch that pawn immediately, the level 9 aug will increase your damage output by 70%. Couple that with the night-time 70% and you have an unstoppable machine.

I think those ones are like, "if your class has daggers, it can use that skill" or whatever weapon. It's only if it shows up like "strider and assassin can use this" means that ranger can't use that, even though it has daggers.
