Doesn't look like a sequel, but that's Korean dramas for you, they are not exactly known for their originality.

It depends on how they detect where you're from. Some services like Netflix base on what DNS host you use for some reason, and a lot of proxies work fine on the HTTP side, but if they authenticate in a different way you're probably screwed. Your best bet is a VPN as it should tunnel all the traffic through, and will cost you around £4-5 a month or so. You're still not guaranteed the best speeds, but sometimes they'll do an auth handshake at the beginning, then you can disconnect from the VPN and keep watching. I used this method to get around game blackouts on NFL's Game Pass - if they show the game on Sky Sports, you can't watch live on the subscription service... convince them you're from The Netherlands for a minute, disconnect and watch the game in glorious HD. One of the forum mods said they'd invalidate my service if they caught me, but I don't think they're checking or they don't care as much as that guy thinks.

I'm already in the UK. The link qbert posted works fine and the quality is just as good considering it's the same subbing team, just posted elsewhere. I'm still going to need to investigate a way to browse viki peacefully, since they just have so much poo poo on there.

Well the nine-tailed fox is a pretty well known folk tale widespread in cultures of various Asian countries, so it's not like it was a unique concept with the Hong sisters' take on it. Around the same time as the Hong sisters one, another series based on the 9-tailed fox legend aired, this time set historically and had a mother-daughter pair of foxes.

Well I would say at least watch episode 5 since there's a major turn in it that informs the rest of the series, but I didn't fall in love with it until around 10-11. The first half of the series lays a lot of relationship building. Still, it's my favorite k-drama I've seen so far.

I was pretty disappointed with My Girlfriend is a Nine Tailed Fox, there was too much pointless drama and that other ex-girlfriend was quite annoying. The Chow Yun Fat wannabe dad was awesome though. I enjoy fun dramas where scheming/drama are pushed back and it's mostly just about the two main characters like in Secret Garden, Greatest Love. Are there any other dramas like that? Anyone else watching Big? Was not expecting that ending to Ep 5. One year time jump! Also reporting that Gentleman's Dignity is pretty good. It feels similar in many ways to Secret Garden, despite no magical elements and most of the characters being in their mid-30's to 40's. Just familiar character types and interactions. Finally, I'm really enjoying Ghost so far as well. Just a nice conspiracy-thriller/cop-drama, despite some really ridiculous 'hacking' scenarios.

Also not being on the public channels has its benefits as well that work out in its favor (don't have to worry about "offending" viewers who let their children watch a drama that is advertised as 15+). I also dislike the whole time-skip dramas' cliche bumbling around in the modern world bit - this one does it well and puts a nice spin on it, as Graplurado said. I heartily second this recommendation and urge everyone to check it out, especially in light of the two leads dating. You'll end up cheering for the IRL couple as well ![]()

I will have to try that. I just finished Secret Garden and Boys over Flowers which followed the same skeleton pretty much. Also what's up with these dramas and having no explanation on how people get from point A to B. Example: Girl passes out at school, some dude picks her up and starts walking off while people watch. Next scene is her in bed waking up at the dudes house. Girl isn't that shocked that she got transported from school to someones house. The gently caress?

The Seoul Metro, buses, taxis, piggyback rides - all very reliable, cheap modes of transportation. They'd just suspect it's one of those, and that someone escorted/dragged their passed out selves through the tricky parts and made sure they got to B, safety assured. This is drama world.

Yeah it is just annoying and it happens all the time it seems and kills the story telling. Seems lazy to do. Maybe I'll try that yoo in na one that people seem to like.
|

Also, maybe it's a culture thing? I know that if someone passes out from drinking or whatever, it's generally the duty of that person's friends to get grab a taxi (easy) and escort him to his house, or at least get him transportation there. Hell, if I suddenly wake up in my bed and the last thing I remember is being with my friends, I'll just assume that I lost memory of them escorting me to my house and/or me opening the door and falling in.

I can't speak for Secret Garden, but in Boys Over Flowers, most of the guys are incredibly rich. I'd imagine that someone like Goo JunPyo could have a chauffeur right there in two seconds. And yeah, JanDi should be way more concerned about waking up in random dudes' beds, because it happens practically in every single episode. And she's usually out (as in unconscious) for 1-2 days at a time. Yet no one is concerned enough to take her to the hospital. I believe I just finished up episode 11 of BoF, and I'm definitely finding her to be the most irritating character.

And some other random issues with pacing and lovely resolutions to plot lines later on in the show bugged me. It just seemed like really lazy writing and/or trying to put too much into the story and not knowing what to do between start and finish.

Yeah, that was my problem with BoF. The main characters were completely unlikable and that's really important for me to want to watch a show. Just started Queen In Hyun's Man and already love it. It looks like a movie production and I burst out laughing in surprise when she flipped the bird. Are other cable dramas like this? I could get used to this. I've been watching Heroes lately and while the subs for it are pretty terrible the show itself is pretty great. Some of the girls I dislike (IU) or are boring (Lee Jin, Ga Eun) but the rest of the cast is really entertaining. Some angles are worked a bit too hard sometimes (Nicole is a FOREIGNER, GET IT/Sayeon is STRONG) but then scenes like In Na perfectly imitating Jiyeon more than make up for it. Sometimes I wonder how much Nicole really gets about what people are saying or what's going on, but compared to Sunhwa literally not knowing the Korean word for skeleton I'm sure she's doing fine.

I like Boys over Flowers much more after episode 10 or so (on ep 16 now). I also like the main actress a bit more now, once she started to have more sad scenes and stopped the silly/angry/pouty faces from the first half of the series she has been much more tolerable. It occurs to me that I felt the same with Coffee Prince, I liked the girl more after episode 3/4 once she started to suffer from love and toned down the silly monkey faces.

Jamesman posted:They're under contract. And Kim Kwang Soo is probably holding their families and pets hostage. Indeed. And with the whole JYJ affair, I think most idol groups are very, very wary about switching companies while their group is still together. I expect the members to flee Cube Entertainment (that's their agency, right?) once T-ara disbands, but trying to get a different company while T-ara is still active is likely to torpedo their music careers. VVVVVVVVVVEDIT: Yeah, I didn't mean the group splitting part of the whole JYJ affair; I meant their practical banishment from TV music programs thanks to SM's influence. Since their agency is under Mnet, they'd have a very, very hard time getting much done besides non-music work, if they ever decided to try to move agencies (even as a whole). Core Contents Media. And yeah, we're not talking about a JYJ/TVXQ situation. I think the idea here would be that we'd want T-ara, as a whole, to get out from under CCM and be picked up by another company and keep being T-ara. Which simply wouldn't happen.

So I've been watching a few eps of Infinity Challenge and I'll say that it's a better show than Running Man, but not as entertaining. The challenges and concepts of the show really are amazing. I think I like IC for the same reason why I liked IY1, the cast interactions sprinkled with some pretty neat activities. I will say that seeing HaHa on IC is really weird for me, he seems so very normal. YJS seems very reserved as well, more of an MC in this show. I think it's just the tone of the different casts though, RM seems more energetic. It's also *much* harder to get into IC in my opinion, the episodes are not nearly self contained. The comedy style of the show is completely different; it's not as structured as RM's is. It feels a lot more "improv", rather than people trying to be outright entertaining. On RM the cast members play up a certain role, on IC it seems like they're mostly being themselves and are just hanging around and shooting the poo poo. I think because RM has more clearly defined rules and expectations, it sets up the punchline more effectively (so to speak). An example would be in RM all of them could be tasked to finish a challenge together and there is a spy they don't know about. Whereas in IC, they'd be free to finish it however they wanted; together or by back stabbing each other outright. The way RM sometimes has things setup, makes the cast members in direct opposition to each other, just seems there isn't a lot of opportunity for IC to do so. I.E. cast members actively trying to prevent a task being done in RM vs. cast members fighting each other to do a task first. However trying to watch Infinity Challenge is an exercise in frustration, the group that's subbing it is all over the place and absolutely no one streams the show in a consistent manner. I've given up on the show about 3 times just because of all the hoops you have to jump through to watch it. I'm currently watching the wresting special, and my only option to watch the last part is to download an 800 meg video file. While the entire first parts are streamable, really god drat frustrating. The lack of a reliable, consistent, quality source of subs is what has kept me from ever watching a single episode of Infinity Challenge. I still don't exactly know what the show is about as a result. Which sucks, because I like all the people in it and a lot of great things have come about as a direct result from it.

Infinity Challenge is great, but yeah the subbing is mostly random and trying to find streaming episodes that aren't absolutely horrific quality is pretty much impossible. For downloading, this topic has a lot of raws, but is missing pretty much everything from 160 to 230 which is of course the same group of episodes that's subbed the most. The other thread I Downloaded the 160 - 230 episodes from had its mediafire account banned last I checked, leaving Rapidshare, which is of course slow as hell without a premium subscription.
