Over the last couple weeks I've been hearing this one song that's stood out to me, just because it sounds so... Odd. Its a rap song with a beat that sounds like its been lifted directly from a country song. Just a notably wierd meld of musical styles. I'd like to know its name. I'm fairly certain its a recent release because it always precedes or follows like Gotye or Rhianna or some other.

Could it be Pitbull - Back In Time ?

Took a minute to find, just went to my city's top 40 radio stations website and it was #4 just after Rhianna and Gotye.

Awesome, much appreciated. Unfortunately the rest of their stuff doesn't have the same gloomy punk rock vibe. It's good to have a finally have a name, though.

Okay, I heard this one on a classic rock station a long time ago. I was half-asleep when I heard it. I don't know if this song actually exists.

So it had a similar guitar melody as "When Something Stands For Nothing" by The Headstones, but it wasn't that song. It was more hard rock and grindy-sounding. There was actual singing in it as opposed to the Headstones song where he seems to just be speaking. A vaguely irish-sounding voice. I don't recall the lyrics but I think there was a line in it before (or was it during?) the refrain that went, "and everytime I die, (die/now?)" I think the last word in the chorus had a word that sounded like "seventies", which he used to rhyme a shorter previous line that said "please" or "seas".

Thanks for trying. But as I said the song was hard rock. It wasn't light-hearted sounding and had somewhat of a grittier and more serious tone.

It sounded very similar to that Headstones song, just the notes were sustained longer. It had a similar sound in notes: E, D, sustained A, beat, E, D, sustained A, beat. The melody in the lyrics had a different one than in the instruments.

I hope I'm using that terminology right.

God, I hope I didn't just dream that song... I might've just heard the Headstones song and thought I heard something else. I hope that's not the case though.

Reminded me of Judas Priest - Living After Midnight which matches the hard rock sound, not sure about the stuff with the lyrics though.

No, it was more modern-sounding. Think (I hate to say it) Nickelback and Rev Theory.

...maybe. I'm not completely sure if those are good examples. To be honest, all I'm really positive about is the E, D, A melody.

I'm trying to remember the name of a song that I think I saw in a PYF thread a few months back, I tried looking but I can't find it.

I think it was from a german metal band, and it was called Purple Lake <something> or Ancient Lake <whatever> and it was pretty long, like 9 minutes, but I'm just having no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

The name of the band finally came to me, and my details were just a bit off.

It was Black Lake Nidstang by Agalloch

Trying to find a sports team intro song. I think it's pretty new. I think I've heard it for a few basketball teams and I was at the A's vs Red Sox game today and I heard it there.

It starts with a guitar doing a tapping/hammer-on/pull-off thing. Then crescendos into a low chugging upbeat blues rhythm with no other instruments. I don't remember any lyrics or anything after that part.

The intro kinda reminds me of Iron Maiden's Back in the village before it goes into low chugging rhythm.

This is an electro song (relatively recent I believe), I'm pretty sure it was either Fear of Tigers or Madeon but I can't find it to save my life, it starts off with a bunch of random sound bits and ends with this

"Hi my name is Mike and if you're sitting there watching this tape smoking your cigarrete, well, hit the fast forward button because I don't smoke and I don't like people who do smoke."

before breaking into the main song. Been driving me crazy I just remembered that I loved it and I can't find it.

This may or may not yield a number of possible answers, but I'm looking for a dubstep mixtape which had a lot of Transformers (the Michael Bay movie) samples used in it. I.e. a lot of the poo poo Megathron says in the movie.

It was pretty rocking, and I caught a glimpse at the name of the artist, but couldn't remember it. :/

Looking for the name of the first track on this video: http://youtu.be/Fu--a7BxhsM (starts at 1min). The wee song credit is for a different song and Shazam / lyrics searching aren't helping. Dunno how I'd describe it - a kinda mid 90s hip hop / jazz / surf guitar(?) track from a rollerblading film.

I've been searching for this dance sort of song from years back, although I'm not sure if it is from the 90's or the early 2000s. From what I vaguely remember, a part of the video clip for the song has a person walking around a street and there are monsters who I think were cartooned/animated. The lyrics may have included "all the people" but I can't say that for sure anymore.

Any help would be appreciated!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5BPIVeadFw

The line shows up briefly and it's a recent enough release from a popular enough band that Clearchannel probably wouldn't have a problem pimping it out. It is pretty poppish for "alt rock", but who knows what genre is anymore.

Well, maybe someone can help me with this one.

I heard this on a college radio station. Seemed to be a metal song, spoken word. The only lyrics I could make out were "go to work" and "go to church". He seemed to be talking about things people do in a day and each line seemed to have three syllables.

It also had a record scratch solo, I think.

Okay my dudes. This might be hard because I have almost zero to go on. I heard this song on NPR tonight. I think. It was a french song. I don't know french, but if you think of how the word "Ma" (as in, an abbreviation for mother,) sounds phonetically in english, that word was either the title of the song or the album. Or the radio dude does not know how to end sentences. It was a soft song, woman singing, with some electronic elements. That's all I know, I am afraid.
