putting salt on food is a mystery to me. like, as part of cooking it? yeah sure okay. but just straight up "yep gonna dump a shitload of salt on this steak" or w/e i just don't get it.

must be an inculcated habit or somethin

oh yah lemme toss a bunch of salt in this recipe where 99% of the salt will never touch my tongue or affect the flavor whatsoever and just end up inside me thats totally cool

but putting it right on the surface of the food where it's guaranteed to affect the flavor at a much higher rate for what's consumed??? madness

salt during cooking is for chemical processes. salt when served is for flavor.

shaggar was right. You don't put a ton of salt on food, you don't want it to just taste like salt, but it brings out flavor in otherwise somewhat bland tasting things.

only thing i can think of where i used salt besides seasoning during the cooking process was salt on fries. people who buy a chicken sandwich or a burger or whatever from a fast food place, take the top bun off, and just douse it with pepper & salt out of those tiny packets disgust me

why would anyone use franks red hot when sriracha is available in every corner store

sriracha has lots of garlic, sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not.

Tabasco is just red pepper, vinegar and salt, Frank's has some garlic, but it isn't as pungent as Sriracha.
