Its a smokestick, isn't it? Its sticklike, releases smoky stuff...? But of course that's too obvious, so lets analyze it a hell of a lot more.

I thought it was some variation on a smoke bomb, the only other possibility I could see would be some form of poison, but I don't think any of the party members have ever used anything like that before. If it is a smoke bomb that begs the question, so what? I'm interested in seeing what tactical advantage the party hopes to gain.

Could make it so that their casters can't aim properly, or that Sabine can't see the traps as well or something totally original.

Which in turn suggests that we could get even faster OotS updates by posting even shittier web-comics. The exchange rate for something like Moon Over June should be pretty good.

Well, the "giving him enough rope to hang himself" plan is still in effect for our masked murdering puppeteer-emperor, but I wonder. Without him and his right-hand lizard man to manage things, who the hell is actually running the Empire of Blood at the moment? I mean, sure, he has the foresight to give out really great instruction manuals for the guards but there's still an insane fat dragon that technically has the authority to tell people what to do. How much damage do you think she could do in a few weeks unsupervised?

My guess is that he put in a quick word to one of the other teams running the Empires of Tears and Sweat, and that one of the "advisers" to those lands just went on sabbatical and, hey, what do you know, someone very similar just showed up to manage the Empress of Blood...

That is actually pretty reasonable, I'll buy that as the real thing he's done unless Rich himself contradicts it. (Which he might, he's pretty good at pulling the rug out from under people from time to time).

The Linear Guild are probably roughly the same level as Durkon, right? So this'll deafen and maybe blind some of them. "Furthermore, if you are on your home plane when you cast this spell, nongood extraplanar creatures within the area are instantly banished back to their home planes. Creatures so banished cannot return for at least 24 hours. This effect takes place regardless of whether the creatures hear the holy word or not. The banishment effect allows a Will save (at a –4 penalty) to negate." So... Sabine and the imp are lost? Or would the imp be protected by the wall?
