You'd be hard pressed to find a more compelling, fantastic, and depressing story than Artie Lange's entire show business career. From filling up orange juice trucks on the docks to Mad TV to punching cops on coke to making ridiculous amounts of cash being the fat neighbor on a sitcom nobody watched to working with his lifelong idol on the biggest radio show ever to making his own film to N&A and now who knows what the hell, all the while being insanely self destructive at every single turn. I get so bummed out whenever I listen to an old stern show and they bring up or talk to Dana. Dude never seemed happier.

This just kinda reaffirms why we will never ever see Artie on the HSS ever again. I guess this is pretty horrible to say, but if he does die soon, I hope it's before Stern's contract is up. I'd be beyond curious to hear Howard's lengthy uncensored honest take on everything that he held back since the suicide attempt.

With Howard getting a TV gig, this isn't the time to bring up the addict that they helped enable for years on end, right up until he attempted suicide. It's just something that can't be spun into anything constructive. That said, this whole year for Stern has been poo poo: Robin's dealing with health issues, Artie is relapsing again, and Howard is pretty much getting a TV career. A wild ride, to say the least.

Artie would sleep, call in sick, and show up hosed up for the Stern show (which is maybe worse), but he would never piss in the studio. If Richard or Sal pissed in the studio he would be the first to call them gross, disgusting, and not funny. If it wasn't a bit and he asked the twins to clean it up that is worse then having Baba Booey clean up his Hi-C. I believed Artie when he said he didn't notice it, but now I wonder. I still love the guy, but for someone that claimed to be a germ phob on the Stern show it seems like odd behavior. Hope he's clean and good.
