It's a tad extra leg work, but if you're intent on doing the escort quests, and you have a portcryst, just go to the location you need to get to on your own, toss a portcryst down, go back, start quest, use a ferrystone. Poof.

Only do the escorts that have a reward that you want, or you want to raise that character's affection level. They don't count towards any achievement or anything, so there's not even that tenuous motivation to do all of them. What I've done when I accidentally wander to close to a giant monster, or 3000 goblins/wolves is chug a liquid vim and throw them over my shoulder and sprint like mad. That and quicksave every 20 feet.

Seems like I finally nailed that quest, I'll post a writeup with some Beerseeker and Jill pictures before I re-hire more pawns and play again later. Will use spoiler tags for the images as it will pretty much tell you what's going to happen in the quest Honor and Treachery Everyone's acquitting themselves well and I've finally gotten to grips with Magic Archer. Little Beerseeker's a rapacious little dwarf, isn't he? Check back to this post for imagedump / tales of valour in a while. I'm seeing how Ser Gabriel does with a new vocation, I want to pick him up more stamina as well as some climbey augments. I just did the Arousing Suspicion quest and my character is a woman. It has a rather interesting effect on the way that it plays out, in that it has no effect whatsoever and this is really obvious even though I've never played a male character.

^^^^ I hated that mission on my first playthrough. Just in case: Here I am congratulating the game (while hiding like a coward) for allowing me to make a choice that actually matters. I thought, "why would I stand up against the duke? He can have me kicked out of Gran Soren, I'm not gonna rustle his feathers. I don't know this chick, she'll be fine... right?" But nope, you have to save her. Kind of weird that everything returns to status quo like nothing happened. ^^^^ GT is GuardianOMS. I've got a sweet level 65 Fighter. For Arousing Suspicion, once you've gone to her room you have to intervene and end up jailed for it. It is an optional quest though, if you never accept it, or accept but never sneak in to see her the plot will still advance just fine. It is funny how once you bust out, no one seems to give a gently caress about it.

No, I mean in Arousing Suspicion if you just leave the room you fail the quest and nothing happens. But you can just leave. If you just stand there then nothing happens. You have to walk right up to them to trigger the next segment of the quest, so just don't go near them and walk out the door. The dragon can screw you out of the final quest in the chain if you wait too long, but that isn't what I'm talking about.

This game really did spells right. Going from mage to sorceror has been awesome. With high gicel and bolide, and soon high maelstrom, I just stand back and cast. With the sorceror casting speed augments and the wyrm ring, its not even that slow. Anything in tight quarters can be a little rough, but its really fun to cast giant twisting spikes of ice, call down literal meteors and summon massive tornadoes. Fulmination is the only semi-disappointing spell so far. They really made each class feel very different. I can't wait to go magick archer and see how the hard leveling in mage and sorceror translates. ex post facho fucked around with this message at 08:44 on Jul 30, 2012 |

RC returns are based on how long your pawn was used so if it was literally the first time you rested after switching, that was someone using the male version of your pawn. If you start a new game or use the character edit items, you'll still get the RC returns from people using your old pawn. That's how it works anytime you change their class, skills, or the likes. I used male pawns most of the time because usually I played as female, and when I switched them around my now-female pawn basically never got hired by comparison. Don't read too much into people randomly searching for levels/skills and happening to pick yours or not.

I noticed that once my pawn reached level 30 he basically stopped getting hired. Earlier levels he was out constantly. Might just be bad luck. Also some nice soul hired my pawn, gave him high-level items, then sent him right back. I thought that was really nice. I plan to do the same once I get to high levels.

It's probably a natural consequence of the player base getting more spread out across levels as you go up in level. EDIT: Wait, that doesn't really make sense because the ratio of pawns for hire to slots that need to be filled ought to stay 1:2. Maybe it's more that at higher levels people tend to stick with pawns for longer because they're not constantly gaining levels and getting access to better pawns. Quest creation? Does he mean like the Infamous 2 mission creator? I'm curious about how that would work out in a game with loot. It'd be awfully tempting to just play a mission that gives you every item in the game for free. On the other hand, that would make playing dress-up much easier.

I have seriously used only 2 pawns for most of my time playing the game. So whoever has the pawns named Sasha and De Rais then thank you. Also, I spent most of my time playing leveling up vocations. As it stands, I leveled up fighter, assassin, and I was level 7 in strider, and I haven't even advanced the main quest that much. The most recent mission I did was to kill the griffin at Bluemoon tower. Speaking of which, that place is one of the coolest environments in this game. I wish there were more places like it.

Yeah, I didn't want to loving complete that quest with Fedel's letter, even though I already gave the letter to the Black Cat for forgery costing me a bunch of money, thanks for making it so that talking with Aldous not only cancelled that quest, but counted as a loving CHECKPOINT ARRRRGHH. Thanks also for immediately autosaving after I got caught by the Salvation dude and didn't kill his second-in-command, thus pissing off Mason. Did anything every become of the DLC stuff? Any good quests or land expansions or such? I can only hope that DD2 is a bigger world with more paths, more enemies, more open choices (kill citizens), and less plot. Maybe just the same amount of plot. I kind of liked that the story just appeared out of nowhere.
