I know there was some talk a little while back about the Earwolf guys thinking of starting one of these with Oswalt and Posehn, but are there any podcasts where funny people (not the Penny Arcade guys) play D&D together? There was an old series on SA called Hargoth's Tomb that I found pretty funny, but they aren't making those anymore but it seems like kind of the perfect thing to do a funny podcast around. I've never played it myself so anything too technical I probably won't understand.

Ugh, the week I finally unsubscribe from Professor Blastoff and Who Charted, they have Scott Aukerman and Nick Kroll respectively. It's like they knew I had unsubscribed and are trying to get me back.

I mean, the Nick Kroll WC will still most likely be full of poo poo, but it's Nick Kroll so I have to listen.

Kind of a semantic question, but what would The Chris Gethard Show qualify as? I love it to death, but since it's actually a TV show (albeit on Public Access) before it's downloadable, as well as it being only a video podcast, I don't know where the more appropriate place to discuss it would be.

I know this isn't about podcasts per se buy I just read that Tig Notaro has double breast cancer.

http://flamelikeme.tumblr.com/post/28706896651/tragedy-time-comedy-but-i-dont-have-the

quote:

Ed Helms welcomed her to the stage and she crossed over, took the microphone, and said “Thank you, thank you, I have cancer, thank you, I have cancer, really, thank you.”

Applause gave way to reticent laughter as she explained how she had planned a set about bees flying alongside her car on the 405, but that she couldn’t possibly do her “silly jokes” when all this was going on. And that’s when she told us that 3 days ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, in both breasts.

But she didn’t just have cancer. She went on to explain that in some manic twist of fate, while her career is at an all-time high — she is moving to New York to work on Amy Schumer’s new television show, she was on This American Life — concurrently, all these terrible circumstances have befallen her over the past 3 months: pneumonia made way for a debilitating bacterial infection in her digestive tract for which she was hospitalized and lost 30 pounds off of her already small frame, days after being released from the hospital, her young mother died suddenly and tragically (fell, hit her head, died), then she and her girlfriend broke up, and then, now, cancer. In both breasts.

I hate her comedy & her podcast appearances but my wife is going through this with one breast and it sucks! A terrible break for her but as I'm told constantly the medicine is improving daily. Hopefully I'll be being annoyed by Tig for years to come.

He doesn't do raving madman on Dana Gould Hour either. He'll occasionally get into a rant on Long Shot, but don't expect the kind of thing he does on the WTF live shows.

Can anyone suggest me a good comedy podcast(s) with a similar sense of humor to We Hate Movies and My Brother, My Brother, and Me? You know, where there is an amazing chemistry between all the people involved, and they can keep building and building off each other? Also, can someone suggest a good way to get into Professor Blastoff? I like their sense of humor, but I'm usually actually interested in the topic, and the few episodes I've listened to seems more like a really interesting lecture where everyone in the audience is a heckler, so you can here the loving speaker.

I think it's gotten much better ever since Flam stopped trying to get people to do his "immaculata" detox thing despite barely being able to follow it himself. Sean Conroy anchors the show, Amber Kenny has some great anecdotes about growing up with hippie parents and then entering the real world, and Peppitone is always great even outside of his stage persona.

Unless the guest is killer, it's not a podcast I jump on as soon as a new one comes out, but it's not bad if you like at least half of the hosts.

I don't listen to either of these podcasts, but I do listen to Uhh Yeah Dude and whenever someone in the UYD thread asks for a recommendation of something similar, My Brother My Brother and Me usually comes up. So based on that I'm going to recommend Uhh Yeah Dude.

"Washed in the blood of Lambchop" has always been one of my favorites. "My name is Holster because i'm where all the men stick it" is also good but maybe long for a thread title. "Bed Bath and Beyonce" is good but maybe misleading. "It's like he's alive and haunting us at the same time" could work.

To me, Phil is unquestionably the most talented guy in radio. He's also a major league self destructive prick, and has shot himself in the foot, career wise, probably half a dozen times. He HATES his fans, too. A lot. It's weird to me, because I always wonder what imaginary audience he's presenting his show to.

I actually meant to make a thread about him at one point, but it slipped my mind. I gotta get off my rear end on that.

In the meantime, check him out if you've never heard him. He's a real talent and an innovator.

edit: Just to expand a bit, his better material can be tricky to find on YouTube or whatever. He's extremely protective of his material appearing on the internet (picture Gary Larson with a personality disorder).

If you catch a bit of his stuff, and it sounds like something you'd enjoy, then I highly recommend subscribing to his website for a month. But do yourself a favor and skip anything from 9/11 to about 2004. He went balls out neocon for awhile.
