Is this a terrible idea? I went, checked it out. It runs but obviously isn't cosmetically perfect for a 34 year old bike. It started fine on the first kick and idled smoothly. Cons: needs new throttle tube (hopefully not cable) front tyre is dry rotted to poo poo missing parts that would be required to get it legal for the street, like blinkers and mirrors (not a major issue) No battery Pros: Its a running bike for $500, that doesn't usually last long around here Very little rust (a bit in the seat pan) http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=400560631

Yeah, I'd snap that up if it runs and rides. They're exceptionally simple machines, so fixing whatever it needs is going to be not a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised if it needed a new throttle cable but doing it is no big deal and I'd wager you can find a cheap NOS part for it. Plus it's a 2 stroke "street" bike so that makes it automatically completely bad rear end. The Suzuki TS line is supposed to be the best of that vintage of japanese enduros, something about a better oil injection setup.

Do it, I wish I saw cheap vintage Enduros for that sort of money here Pretty sure those are becoming rapidly collectable/desirable too (at least round these parts) I looked at a restored TS250 a few weeks ago that was in only slightly better nick than that and it went for over £2500.

Yours still has its side covers, so that's a plus! Those drat things go for around $60 a piece on ebay. Turn signals and stuff will be simple to get.

I picked up 4 honda signals and 2 mirrors at a swap meet for $20 a while ago that fit fine, so you should be able to find them for cheap. The battery, I dunno. I'd probably go for something decent, even to just run the electronics. Everything else, gently used OEM stuff off ebay.

I've done that three times before and it sorta worked once. Okay, I'm fairly certain she didn't divorce me over the first two bikes, but... And yes, the TS 185 is destined to be a learners bike for my current gf. Hahaha.

Scary how close this was. He missed the valve adjustment like 10k miles ago and all the exhaust valves bit the dust, but he's still riding it

been riding around on my rebel 450 for over a year now and it's time to move up! Is this too much move up? Whenever I ride on my or anyone else's bikes I'm always trying to lean forward so I'm thinking a forward riding position will be good for me, of course I'd test ride it. How's the price look and what do I need to ask this guy? I know the 2006 was the year BEFORE the first re-tool of the z1000. http://humboldt.craigslist.org/mcy/3332750856.html
