Hit Y and B at the same time (xbox controller) not B after Y. Maybe I am misunderstanding you, you have collected all the statues right and you did the Dim Mak 3(?) times on the student and beat the students - but did not unlock the move or are you just having trouble pulling it off outside the training?

Just finished the story, really pleased with it but I really hope theres going to be some story DLC. Some more cop stuff would be nice, maybe doing some bigger cases.

Dating spoilers:
Also I wish there'd be more to dating than just one mission per girl, Amanda not being available for long I get, since she wasn't supposed to be in HK for long

This was the first thing I did after completing the story, that and the stun grapple follow-up, which is a lot of knees to the head.

This game is seriously the gift that keeps on giving. After really digging the Daptone radio I decided to read about Daptone records. A few Charles Bradley videos later I feel unbelievably inspired as a musician and music lover in general. I really have to say they did a fantastic job with the music in the game. It's a lot different than what you normally get in most games.

So, about half the time when I start the game up, it crashes to desktop and leaves a ghost process running that I can't terminate and prevents me from trying to start it again or doing anything else with steam and basically forces me to reboot. I hope they fix that soon.

Well, 1.4 is installed and now instead of a CTD about 50% of the time, the game causes Windows Explorer to crash/become indefinitely unresponsive and leaves me with literally no other choice but to perform a hard reset of the computer, 100% of the time. I guess the joke's on me.

e: Finally got the game working again after trying for literally an hour. I have no idea why but whatever, I can finish the final(?) mission now.

I was so goddamn happy when I saw Charles Bradley was featured. Saw him live last year and he really is something. I always have Daptone on when I'm cruising.

I wouldn't mind a radio station with your own music à la GTA though.

Yeah, he's fantastic. I haven't heard someone that intense and genuinely soulful in forever. I fell in love with Daptone instantly.

That would be great. Even something like SR3 where you could just pick from the entire radio library and make your own playlist would be nice.

I love the little details in this game. I bought a counterfeit shirt and when I was panning the camera around I noticed the stitching was really bad and half-assed. Small things but I appreciate the details like that in games.

Yeah, it's awesome that even the other bad guys are like "oh gently caress that's brutal" and wince. I have to say though, I felt really bad when you first learn it, because you end up breaking that poor dude's leg like a half dozen times. In a row.

And done with the story. I have to say I'm really disappointed in the ending. I actually really was interested in it, because the whole undercover cop angle is exploitable for so much dramatic tension but the end was really, really anti-climactic.

Pendrew (apparently) betrays you and outs you to the triads because... you disobeyed him when he wanted you to come in. His motivation for doing this was apparently that he had a deal with the Triad Chairman to basically trade three murders for three arrests to better both their careers, and he wanted to use the Triad war to kill the guy before moving on in his career so that he couldn't threaten him. This is explained to you in a text message.

The big reveal (Of Shen's identity), which you'd expect to be a pivotal moment in the game, is completely glossed over. You confront the big bad and he just says "Oh, by the way, I know you're a cop." Completely disappointing, especially considering how hard they played up the whole deal with Shen having to fight to maintain his identity as a police officer while playing the role of a Triad; if you just cut out the pertinent conversations and missions, which are few and far between, a tiny fraction of the game, then it would play just like any other crime shooter. I was expecting, and really looking forward, to Shen having to arrest his "friends" and face them as who he really is, but nothing of the sort happens, you just murder gangsters the entire time, even most of the cases are side stuff, irrelevant to the plot. Ultimately Shen's identity as a police officer plays very, very little role in either the gameplay or the story and that's very disappointing to me.

Big Smile Lee is a moustache-twirling villain with basically no characterization whatsoever. I felt very little impetus to kill him, especially considering how boring that mission was. Oh, and did I mention how boring the final mission was?

Overall I really loved the game, though, definitely going to push it to 100%. I'm just really disappointed with how little the police angle of the game was used. I really loved the side crimes and frisking people to lower district crime rates in the other True Crime games. I didn't mind them giving those things up for the whole undercover thing but they didn't even really touch that.

I know I harp on about Def Jam:FFNY a lot, but this really is up there when it comes to satisfying fighting. I'd gladly pay for DLC if it were just a load of fight club arenas but with additional environmental hazards. Like the fish market or temple.

Yeah. It can be a bit finnicky at times, like the other "hold B" move, but I can pull it off. I think it may have something to do with if you're already locked into an animation, maybe? I cant describe it, but there's times when the game doesn't quite register me holding B.

You actually do have psychic powers anyway, since the game always picks the A button. You can just press a the whole time and as long as you don't press any button but a, you will never get arrested.

I was testing this out earlier and I could've sworn I wasn't hitting any other buttons, but who knows. I've definitely got twitchy fingers, so I certainly might have hit something else without even realizing it.

Seriously, when I'm gaming or just on the PC I can't even rest my hand on the mouse during a down moment because I'll randomly click a button without meaning to.

I just spent about an hour out-safe driving another goon on my friends list who had five minutes, God knows why. It's weird but I find that I'm actually enjoying doing the open world stuff and just cruising around in this game a lot more than doing any of the story stuff. I mean, I've only just unlocked street races, which I'm probably going to do all of before moving on with the story, and I'm 14 hours in. I don't think I've experienced that with this kind of game since Vice City, which I spent hours upon hours driving around in it as a stoned teenager to the point where I still know it like the back of my hand.

It's one of the best games i've ever played. I'm not joking. It's one of only two or three games that I have loved EVERYTHING about. I've never been pissed off by the gameplay, never disliked a single mission, never groaned about the story, never even thought the pacing got worse. Sleeping Dogs is one of those games I would suggest to anyone who enjoys open world games. The developers really nailed everything they tried. Even the negatives like the somewhat lovely karaoke game and the strange dating stuff has a certain charm to it that makes it enjoyable.

I won't say it's one of the best games I've ever played like some people, or even a game of the year contender, but it's a very solid 8/10 game. The story and voice acting are great, combat is fun, graphics are decent, and there's a lot of content that you could easily put 30 hours into. It doesn't compare to something like Saints Row 3 for me, but I like it more than GTA4.

No multiplayer, and the PC controls are not very good, so you'll probably plug in a controller anyway. PC version will look and run better (or worse) depending on your machine. Just go with whatever you prefer.

Even all the side poo poo which in most games I'd probably ignore I'm enjoying perhaps just as much as the main missions. And yes I find myself cruising around listening to Daptone more often than not.. it just.. seems right.
