I've been holding onto my Tau army but never doing anything with it. For the last few years it's been sitting in my garage, mostly assembled but unfinished and unpainted. I made the decision to sell the stuff, so today I pulled everything out and took pictures. Don't know what any of it is worth though. Could someone help me out with a rough estimate? Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/1Y7fs Here's the list: 3x hammerhead 2x devilfish 1x skyray top 1x partially built hammerhead w/ the rest on sprue 2x hammerhead/devilfish on sprue, w/ skyray top 5x piranhas (2 had their bases broke off in them ugh.) 2x crisis suit 1x crisis suit leader (which i glued to his stand for some reason hurr) 3x steath suit 20x fire warrior with pulse rifle 3x Drone Snipers & stealth suit controller 1x Shas'ui stealth suit blister, unopened 1x Rapid Insertion Force, unopened (9x crisis suits, 3x stealth suits) 1x blast/large blast/flamer template 1x apocalypse blast/flamer/burst templates 1x tin 40k dice 1x tin apocalypse artillery dice 1x mystery sprue of non tau stuff - I think for markers or something. 1x Tau codex 1x 4th edition rulebook 1x Apocalypse rulebook 1xMotor pool troop carrier. Various man and vehicle bits, extra stands and bases. Modeling sand, modeling flock, A sprue cutter and 2 small brushes (unused). Having a ballpark on some of this stuff would be a big help.

I wasn't paying attention when I numbered my guardsmen, so i just say ones with the unit number on their right side are females and the ones with it on their right side are men. What was the creepy weird misogynist (but trying really hard not to be) marine guy? Doctor Thunder or something? Dollars to donuts he's a brony now.

Pretty sure the death korp are all men. I'm pretty set on my second army being IG but I don't want to go with the baggy pants wearing canadian defense force looking cadians. The only ones I find captivating are the death korp of planet war. I didn't want to hold onto my money anyway.

I can't imagine a more relevant thread to ask this: I found this image in some random youtube video about Orks. It didn't provide any source, nor could I through that screenshot find more with Google. And yet, it is beautiful and the orkiest thing ever. It's probably official art from Games Workshop and I would like to know more about it.

Preordered dark vengeance limited at my FLGS, gonna convert the entire thing to chaos and run it as an Alpha Legion army, and probably play the actual dark vengeance game with me and my lil bro as a intro to 40k. Any suggestions on paint to invest and maybe a few odd bits to bring things up to standard?

Good quality paint such as Vallejo or Citadel-branded (I admit I mostly use GW paints because I'm lazy and like to support the store), basing material, super/plastic glue (I use Krazy Glue with the brush applicator) and craft glue for basing (the cheap kind in the brown bottle sold for $1-2). I love Alpha Legion and the latest White Dwarf provides some pretty good examples of paint-jobs for the Dark Vengeance Chaos models with their colors. That being said, if you're using the whole set for Chaos the Dark Angels might fare better as Red Corsairs or Fallen.

Would Fallen have black armour? They definitely wouldn't have any chest aquilla, so you'd need to remove those. e: why do halved colour schemes tempt me so? It's likely that they would remove the Aquila but it depends on how much you want to change them. I would totally accept them as Fallen provided they've got some Chaos iconography either painted on or added in bitz. If they desecrated the Aquila it would be good enough--give it a good gouging and perhaps put an eight-pointed star on top in bright colors and you're fine.

But don't the Fallen date from the Heresy, when the only Legion with chest aquilla were the Emperor's Children? My DA fluff is pretty weak.

Even though there's a lot of plastic there, I think 500 is the upper limit for selling it as a lot. If you're willing to go through the effort, you can get probably 60% retail selling it piecemeal.

MonsterUnderYourBed posted:Shouldn't Fallen who keep their original colour be black not green? Dark Angels didn't become green until post heresy afaik. This is a fascinating subject, and I'm glad you brought it up. http://www.boatzincs.com/copper_shield_45_ablative.html To protect marine hulls from infiltration by barnacles and other horrendous dangerous lifeforms, copper is added to certain paints in order to poison any organism attempting to lay down roots on the surface of the painted vessel. Dark angels, often submerged in aqueous environments, painted their armor with a black copper shield. What many people forget is that the Dark Angel homeworld had beautiful beaches open year-round, with pleasant weather and affordable rates at nearby hotels even during peak season. This is both the source of their greened armor, and their surfer-like mentality of adventuresome pursuits, such as motorcycle riding and small aircraft piloting. In addition, it's why their terminator suits were often white--they were used for deep sea diving, and visibility at depth was important. So, the modern dark angels, in keeping with the general downhill trend of the universe, are working with ancient equipment--they're often no longer able to procure sufficiently high SPF hull paint to freshen their armor, and so it takes on a green tint from oxidation. The supposed heretics, in the warp, are presumably also suffering from this degradation of their equipment. The ravenwing is a unique exception. Because they fly and ride, rather than swimming in salt water (their fortress monasteries are 90% sea water), as all other dark angels do, constantly, they can accept regular non-copper laced paint. Also, because they can 'jink', they dodge the vast majority of the oxygen atoms that might bond with the copper in the paint, anyway. The important thing to remember here is that there's concrete evidence in the canon for all of this, and, ultimately, the GW artists are very careful about consistently portraying space marines, regardless of chapter, in precisely the way they're meant to be portrayed, as if we were looking through a portal into the universe of the 41st millenium. I appreciate this opportunity to share my love of the 40k fluff and marine maintenance protocols. They rarely overlap, but when they, do, it puts a big smile on my face.
