Did people just not notice it was a bumper sticker the guy probably bought for a car already marketed in the same way people buy computers? Obviously the juxtaposition with the Apple sticker is funny if you leave it at that, but it's an even hollower gesture once you realize that the entirety of the image, including the road and all the other cars are results of the consumer culture that bumper sticker claims we should question. So .. layer upon layer of the illusion of freedom that marketing needs to get you to buy buy buy buy!!! BUY!

Can't belive someone unironically drew that. It was a joke, right? Please tell me it was a joke. Also, picture

It's Spanish miners striking and using homemade rockets fired out of steel tubes. The green thing he's leaning on is a wheelie bin full of rocks or something to stop the rubber bullets and golf balls the cops are firing at them. Also they have some beers Spanish maquis 420 kill fascists everyday.

Similarly, Christian Arabs use Allah as well, as do Mizrahi Jews and Sikhs.

This week he flipped his poo poo over the new IPhone announcement and changed his profile picture to the Apple logo. What the gently caress. I did some media research work at an ad agency for awhile. That agency didn't have anything to do with Apple, but I can pretty much guarantee that the weird brand-antibrand thing going on there there is happening because someone was paid a lot of money to make it happen. Literally any vaguely popular idea that is a threat to consumerism will be co-opted and turned into a Good Reason to Buy Our Thing. A huge part of Apple's branding strategy is that idea that buying Apple makes you unique, you're a chic sexy noncomformist, thinkin' different, and you should feel great about how enlightened you are for daring to ~think outside the box~ and buy a $2000 laptop with an apple on it instead of THE MAN's $700 laptop. It's all intentional. Their 1984 ad campaign hit peak- though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8 Dr. Cogwerks fucked around with this message at 20:49 on Sep 14, 2012 |

Dr. Cogwerks posted:Their 1984 ad campaign hit peak- though: Both the "Think Different" and the "1984" ad campaigns came at low points for Apple. Apple wasn't the largest public corporation in the world when it did "1984", it was a response to the "threat" of market domination by IBM. The "Think Different" campaign was supposed to be about going back to "counter-culture roots" of Apple/Steve Jobs after Jobs returned to Apple. The whole anti-brand brand is pretty brilliant. I know people who consider themselves impervious to marketing who will only buy Apple consumer electronics because "they're so drat cool!" For content: things got a bit wacky when the Wall came down.
