You still needed to cheat by removing the panels on the arms. As awesome as the SOC is, it cannot escape the fact that its chest and arms are too thick to cross. At best you'll get "arms on top of each other" but not quite even then.

I'm not too keen on the Aegis; it looks nice but transforming MGs aren't the sturdiest things and its transformed flying mode looks goofy as gently caress. I guess you could buy it and then latch it onto a strike MG as a display piece and recreate memorable scenes from everyone's favourite gundam anime?

Before I expanded the thumbnail, I thought it was some sort of bizarre reverse-SD model. Nope, it's just the Neo Granzon.

Hey, by transforming MS standards "robot squid" is probably one of the most coherent that isn't just "is a robot folded into a plane"...

Why does the frame arms line keep getting so much better? each new one is much more interesting than the last! This one has the craziest construction of them all and it definitely benefits alot from it. (the whole torso assembly is flipped upside down to make it's wide stance work) Definitely hosed up on the cleanup on the hip area, though. It's going to need some weathering to look great, as much as I'm dreading that.

Generally, they're much nicer, but a few of the early kits can be very fidgety. You get a really nice inner frame and the parts to build the kit around it. They're all quite varied, and most of them are by different designers. They range from anywhere between rather goofy to very utilitarian, and even some more MS-like designs, so there's something for everyone. They do get a bit pricey, since the cheapest they get is usually 60 with shipping, but they're totally worth it for having some of the most poseable kits you can get!

I wrote this up on another forum I frequent and figured I might as well throw it on here as well. If you guys would rather I wait till the whole model is completed I won't bother with a detailed review.

Review Part 1: 1/100 RX-78-2 ver. GP30th 945SHG - Inner Frame(legs)

Front shot: http://i.imgur.com/ByW1Il.jpg
Side shot: http://i.imgur.com/OR59Rl.jpg
Back shot: http://i.imgur.com/8YhBMl.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/ZYWfUl.jpg - showing off the detail in the feet here. One of them has already been panel lined with some detail added to the thrusters.

http://i.imgur.com/vMHRsl.jpg - Can do the full splits, but the joint is a little weak and the leg will droop due to its own weight.

http://i.imgur.com/xIse5l.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/gy75Wl.jpg - Front and back however, the joint is very strong and can easily support the weight of the leg.

http://i.imgur.com/5aug0l.jpg - it's not 00 Raiser, but the RX-78-2 is still no slouch at limbo

http://i.imgur.com/nWxFIl.jpg - A very respectable distance between the feet and still flat on both feet.

http://i.imgur.com/J6KZGl.jpg - A very nice knee bend, and the knee joint can easily support it.

http://i.imgur.com/wNToPl.jpg - Finally, a good amount of ankle articulation.

Overall, quite impressed so far. You're basically unlimited in whatever pose you want to put the legs in, and the metal is quite heavy and greatly increases the stability of the kit if you choose to have him standing without an action base.

Yeah, I'm loving the SRC line. I got MagiKing, Dekaranger Robo, Big Volfogg, GaoGaiGar, and now Daizyujin.

Honestly I was a little wary of this line when it was first announced, but the characters they are putting out and the quality are loving awesome. :)

Yeah, I have Dekaranger Robo, Gokaioh, GaoGaiGar (w/ Goldion Hammer set) and now DaiZyuJin. The only one I'm kinda meh on is Gokaioh, probably gonna wind up selling it, but that's more on the design really.

Went into my hobby shop today, see they have 20% off on all gunpla (because they're pretty much getting rid of them :( ) which follows with me leaving with an MG Blitz Gundam, Age Titus, and I even managed to find a Nobell Gundam.

The Nobell Gundam is freaking microscopic.

I got all that and an action frame for $130, which is pretty good since I live in Australia and if I didn't get gouged at a brick and morter store, I'd be ripped to shreds by shipping costs.

Speaking of shipping, I still need to order that GNX 603...

I'm holding off buying new kits until that gorgeous MG tallgeese starts shipping. I wonder if we'll be getting a new Sazabi sooner or later now that the Nu is out, all those lovely features on the new Nu look really cool but I'm just not that interested in the suit itself.

so I have a bunch of unpainted, but assembled plastic on my shelves. I'd like to try my hand at hand painting some of these. I'm comfortable with spray primer, but airbrushing is a no-go. can I brush on acrylic paint? Can I use warham citadel paints? Granted there's a lot to surface area even on HG models, so Citadel might be super expensive to use, but will it come out OK?

if you can paint vehicles from warham without leaving brush marks everywhere you will be fine.
Personally, I would spray paint the pieces and then pick out detail with paint.

So I found a local hobby shop that has a few Gundam models in. I picked up RG RX-78-2 for 40$. A little over retail, but it was a cool shop and the dude who runs it seems pretty on the ball and he's willing to bring more gunpla in on request.
