Someone from our production spoke with Sony's VP of marketing a few months ago and he said something along the lines of "You know all those trailers where we give away the ending? We know we're doing that. We don't necessarily always want to do it, but sometimes it's a necessary evil to get more butts in seats".

Most trailers cut too quickly or too arrhythmically through things like that, and I tend not to process what I'm seeing as much. Plus it's pretty brilliant that the cuts were on beat with the music, but twice as fast.

While that looks like a good movie, I am kind of taken out of it through the use of a song from the A Scanner Darkly soundtrack. I feel like FOX is banking on the icon instead of making an honest Die Hard movie, it's pretty depressing. People liked John McClane because he was the underdog, he was a regular joe in a bad situation, and now he's some famed action hero that they can't stay authentic to. Live Free or Die Hard was full of over-abundance of CG, and they had to fake edit in blood and Yippee Ky Yay Motherfucker in the "unrrated" edition. It's probably going to be the same routine here.
