A while back I started listening to UYD at episode 1, and the other day I got to 139, where Jonathan is drinking an alcoholic beverage he called an “Old Knob Slob.” This is where you drink about a quarter of an Olde English 40 and then pour in a Bartles & James strawberry daiquiri. I love lovely alcohol, so by the end of the episode I knew I'd have to give it a go (and somehow I didn't even know wine coolers were still a thing. I always associated them with middle aged women in like 1993). Anyhow, I'm having one now and it's crazy wrong, but awesome. If you spent your formative years in punk houses getting shitrocked on the cheapest booze that probably helps.

139 is also the episode that birthed Schneer and Letern, which is one of the best moments.

I think it's pretty obvious as this point that Jonathan doesn't even like doing the show anymore.

I dunno if it's that extreme, I mean there were a few episodes this year where you can tell he's not that into it, but that past few episodes he seems to be enjoying himself, I think, sounds like it anyway. All the live shows must make it worthwhile anyway.

Jah can't leave Hollywuyd or the show; what on earth would Seth do without the show? I hate the thought of him quietly going insane, collecting stories on notecards and archiving them until his apartment is filled, occasionally trying to sing "Every kiss begins with K" to himself, crying.

Sometimes this show is a bit of a bummer when you realize how lovely these dudes lives actually are. I know it's always played for laughs and some of it is exaggerated, but still... things get dark out there in those Hollywierd hills.

They really play it up. I know this doesn't mean anything necessarily, but Seth seems pretty happy with that hot girlfriend of his, and they seem to have a pretty happy social life. I'd worry about Johnathan more than anyone, and his dad is rich.

Check ep. 197 at 28:09. Seth says, "Relationships are about open lines of communication, trust, and honesty."

Then Jah breaks in with "Take me to outer space" and there are Galaga sound effects til 28:37, at which point Jah says "Ah you blew it." And they move on to the next story.

Somebody tell me what Jah cut out.

This is true, but you bash Jonathan way too much. Most listeners of the show do. Seth would never, ever be able to do this show with anyone else. Jonathan says some loving hilarious things. Seth repeats things Jonathan says a lot. And Jonathan lends a space-cadet factor to it that many of us appreciate, because we're not east coast catholics (east coast atheist lolzzzzzz).

It's true. I wish they could monetize the podcast or parley it into something bigger. But then Jonathan talks about how he spent all of the shipping money for merch on drug binges and it makes a little more sense about why they haven't been able to do that.

Yeah, it's pretty nuts how hard some of this stuff is to find (namely some of the more world music tracks he pulls), but i've got the list up to about 70 songs right now. Played it during a gathering at my place on Friday and got mad compliments for the selection, so kudos to Jah for his dope taste in music.

I'll keep on chugging, and post the final mix in the thread once i've gotten all the way through the list- currently still 275+ episode tracks to search through.

They had a stint with HBO sponsoring them and even then, it was really not annoying at all. They have something that so many people lack in this age of ads and corporate sponsorship.

I think they were just given a lot of creative license with how to do their promotion. Comedy Bang Bang was doing a bit at the same time called "Entourage Recap" which pretty much made fun of the show but based on the timing I suspect both were paid for by HBO.

I just started listening to CBB a month or so ago and heard my first episode with an Entourage Recap this week. So brilliant. [Entire theme song plays] "Turtle doesn't have enough tequila!" [OH YEAHHHHH, OH YEAHHHHH]

I believe the HBO thing was real - in the interview I quoted earlier, Jonathan said they get about $800 per month for doing sponsorship messages.

Just got home from seeing the show at Los Angeles Podfest. Jonathan was especially on point, the funniest I've heard him be in a long time. And after the show when he was signing autographs and whatnot, he confirmed that he is NOT moving to New York and in fact sounded as enthusiastic about the show as he's ever been.
