What's a good recent ep of Judge John Hodgman to listen to?

Gavelbanger's Ball is a fantastic episode (albeit, kind of atypical) if only for the expert witness. The Mr Mxylplkx one is pretty good as well.

SpacePig posted:

Jesse's actually really improved since I started listening. I don't listen to JJGo or anything, but when I first started listening to Judge John Hodgman, Jesse would often interrupt for no reason. he doesn't do that as much now, and is actually geniuinely entertaining IMO.

Yeah, he's gotten a lot better about not stepping on Hodgeman's toes. I actually might want to check out Bullseye, now that I think about it, because one of the things that turned me off of The Sound of Young America previously was his awful, awful interview style of interjecting his own unfunny, dumb stuff throughout.

I used to hate the ad for SoYA because Jesse's dumb "and a little piece of our dicks" felt so forced and was so completely unfunny, and hearing him laugh his rear end off at his own joke realy turned me off to listening to the show. I've been thinking of starting, though.

If you're at all fan of We Hate Movies, look into buying Chudmentary. It's different from Rifftrax/MST3K's super tight comedic timing because it's off the cuff, but it still works really well.

I think the show just isn't for me. I listened to this one and it was so unfocused and meandering and awkward that it seemed more like the 2nd episode of a podcast than the 72nd.

Here's the Peretti Podcast. It's "already a classic", apparently. Feral Audio needs to get a new blurbsmith, their front page has two new podcasts hosted by two seperate "beloved comedian[s]". Maybe there's just a lot of love going around.

Her podcast was #1 on iTunes before it was even released by people leaving positive comments and ratings.

It's justified.

Brody Steven's one must be worth a try given that it only lasted two episodes. You're not risking a massive time investment or anything. I also liked Conversations with Matt Dwyer, where a comedian talks to people with proper jobs, like Butcher, Black Panther, or Bondage Porn Star.

It's PFT as H.G. Wells using a time machine to pluck dead authors from their time periods and ask them questions about their inspirations and such. The dead authors are portrayed by various comedians, and best I can tell is that the entire show, save for PFT's questions and some fan questions, is imporivised.

It's completely absurd, in a good way.

I can only find episodes 1 and then 3-9. Who is on episode 2?

He also has a show on HBO GO which is worth looking into if you like his podcasts. He has a very unique sense of humor, but it's really, really fantastic stuff.
