Anyone got any good suggestions for safe pressure strings with Task or clever ways of opening folks up? I'm not very good at these two aspects, I think.

Isn't task pressure shield skills, shield skills, cancel into arrows or shark sting? If you cancel into arrows it's safe.

Alright I've lost to like three people online that just do jumping H? S? (the diagonal downward attack with the chain) with Ghost Rider and call beam assist. I have no idea what to do against it and feel like I'm just locked down the whole match. My team is Nova (Overhead), Hulk (Anti Air), Doom (Rocks). Any advice would be appreciated

As for Ghost Rider, maybe you should start Hulk and abuse the gently caress out of your standing H and gamma charge. Also walk towards him as you start the match so he doesn't get any distance on you.

I tried this.. but the chain seems to beat both standing H and the start up for gamma charge is too slow... yeah if I can't pressure him at the beginning of the match, I have no clue how to get in on him once he gets to mid/full screen

You're going to have to learn a) When it's safe to superjump b) What you can do after the superjump to keep Ghost Rider from re-establishing pressure c) What hyper/DHC options you have to punish predictable assist calls Also in most cases you NEVER want to pushblock Ghostrider unless it's going to negate some sort of high/low mixup. Unlike more traditional fighting games good avoidance is more important in umvc3 than good defense - the best way to deal with a pressure game is being somewhere else and using any whiffs as your golden opportunity to establish your offense.

With doom, super jump and. Finger lasers or plasma beam? Even if the two of you are just shooting stuff diagonally for a ton of the match, you should be able to punish an assist. Or, if you feel like burning a lot of resources, with nova on point, you can combo off rocket punch super with xfactor, right? Seems like you actually could take out an assist like that since Nova hits sorta hard.

Super Rad posted:You're going to have to learn Yeah I think I just need to be more patient and learn when to super jump and try to approach from above. Just feels like I'm constantly locked down/in block stun. What's bad about pushblocking Ghostrider? Pretty sure rocket punch super gets stuffed by the jump S. but I'll give this a try... maybe the gravametric shield thing would work combined with javelins?

bouncyman posted:What's bad about pushblocking Ghostrider? Pushblocking in general adds extra blockstun frames to the move that you blocked, which would go counter to escaping his pressure. Occasionally having extra recovery frames is to your advantage since it will momentarily negate any high/low mixups giving more time to react. E: And Ghostrider is weaker the closer he is to you, you never want to push him away, use proximity to out-prioritize his normals or just go for the grab. Event a tech against Ghostrider puts you at the advantage since he is so rear end up close, I think Pheonix Wright may be the only character with assier up close normals. What's the story here? He wanted to play good people even though he knows he's free, which is fine; the best way to get better is to play good people. And he wanted them to take it seriously so he put money on the line; that's also fine, assuming you don't care about the money you know you're going to lose. But he appeared to put money on the line while also caring very much about losing money, while also knowing he was going to lose, and I'm not clear about why he did that. He says he doesn't care about the money and he's got a job; were people hassling the guy off camera and then turned it on for an interview? If that's the case, then I do feel bad for him. He's trying to get better and wants these guys to take him seriously; if they're calling him a scrub and making him cry because he's free, that's the sort of poo poo you expect from third graders. Edit: Yeah, on a second watch it seriously just looks like it's schoolyard-level bullying. That's stupid and it doesn't make them look good at all. I'm betting the tears have nothing to do with the fact that he lost ninety bucks and everything to do with the fact that while he was trying to play and learn and improve himself, a bunch of jackasses were standing behind him shouting, in his ear with a megaphone, "You gonna get hosed, nigga! Unh unh unh! Oh, we like it wet! Don't you move, nigga; you gonna do that? Don't move, we gonna gently caress you!". Coca Koala fucked around with this message at 22:26 on Nov 6, 2012 |

I can respect that he wanted to at least be able to tell people "Noel Brown kicked my rear end and was actually trying", but not if he's gonna cry like a little girl after the fact.

Money matching top level players does nothing for you in Marvel, so it was a complete waste. In this game you need to play long sets if you're not good- you don't learn anything from getting steamrolled, and a far better player will steamroll the gently caress out of you. In general of having to 'pay' better players to play you is stupid- even moreso when it's not even a truthful concept.

I disagree that money matching a good player won't help your game, it absolutely will. But unless you're super-godlike which almost no one is, there are a shitton of people better than you who will play you just for fun.

Any advice would be appreciated Super jump and abuse fly. Ghost Rider can't do poo poo against people that hang out above him. You can also hang out in the air forever with Nova even after your fly time expires by abusing Gravimetric Pulses, and even then, you can come down with an Air S to catch them crouching and immediately confirm into a long combo, Superjump up and then dash down quickly and try to hit them with a super ambiguous air H, use Hulk's Anti-Air assist to give yourself some space and start spamming shields and Energy Javelins with Nova, also, you can use Nova's Centurion Rush H backed up with Doom's Rocks to stay safe and blast through any projectiles or beams the opponent is throwing out there. Also, after a j.S I believe Ghost Rider cannot do anything else on the whole way down, so just jump in there and grab these fools after blocking that S. Seriously though, just Superjump, fly, do Human Rocket M and H to fly around the screen, use Gravimetric Pulses to keep up there, and then try to come down above the opponent with an ambiguous air H or air S. Something about air S makes people want to crouch and I don't know why but it works. It is extremely unsafe if blocked, however.
