I'm pretty sure you'll do a new SF-86 and a SSBI. In other words, if you don't have a current State clearance, it's starting over again for the most part. My clearance was quicker than a classmate who had an active DoD TS/SCI.

I have a freshly completed SF86 just in case. The last time I did a clearance was back in 2003 with EPSQ or something. Please tell me that the new eQuip thingie whatever is easier.

I have been a long time lurker and gained some invaluable info from all the folks on here. My father was a career diplomat for Ethiopia and I had the fortunate opportunity to reside in several different countries growing up which peaked my interest in intl relations. My other passion is technology and I am currently on the IMS register hoping to make the January class. As hopefully, the countdown to January begins, I wanted to start networking with the folks on here as I am sure I will have plenty of 'rookie' questions. Looking to meet folks like Skandiaavity in person at FSI if you have not shipped out by then.

I did not pass my OA but I appreciate the encouragement that I have gotten here. The good news is that my wife did pass hers (consular track). I'll have to wait my year out to apply again but my specialist jobs don't seem to come up that often. It looks like the EFM track for me for a while. Crossing all the fingers for clearances and medical.

Welp, submitted my PNQs. I'm hoping it's graded more like the essay portion of the FSWE and less like the qualifications section, as I kicked rear end on the former and didn't kick rear end (chewed bubble gum, perhaps) on the latter.

Didn't take a single sick day. Second tour was Rome. Managed to collapse due to a combination of traveler's sickness and severe food poisoning in my first two weeks on the job. Happened right after a prison visit too -- actually, in the lobby of said prison. Spent two days in Rome American Hospital pantomiming my symptoms to the nurses' bemusement. Why? My Italian vocabulary at the time was limited to relevant topics like nuclear treaties and high-level diplomacy.

Regarding the tests and oral exam, are the questions asked and answered more aptitude or knowledge oriented? I would say the exams by nature are more aptitude oriented. I went into the BEX panel with zero experience in law enforcement. Think of FLETC as basic training for federal agents. You'll learn everything you need to conduct a criminal investigation in a safe and thorough fashion. Your days will begin early and end a little late. They will consist of a mixture of physical training and classroom lecture. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me and I'll tell you what I can.

Questions are both knowledge and aptitude, but the knowledge isn't law enforcement knowledge, but more general/world knowledge.

(Kitfo is slightly warm, raw ground beef, usually spiced with berbere or mitmita, and often melted butter). I eat at the Sheraton's "5-star" restaurants and get sick about 30% of the time.

One day when I was acting IMO, back in the terp days I was in the office and all of a sudden bam, 104 degree fever... Like in 10 minutes from fine to OMG what's wrong with me. Yep, same. Already thanked the_chavi but I'll do so again, I feel much better about this time than the previous and much better about my essays than after my first round of editing. Submitted (mostly because it's already Wednesday night Japan time and I may not have time to submit them tomorrow night) and contacted all my verifiers, just in case. Time to cross my fingers until January.
