I voted, and my contingent orders were basically "FIRE EVERYTHING" and then die as I take a bunch of large lasers in the rear end from E1. It's a humble plan, but I'm proud of it.

In fact, the company Harmony Gold got their rights from (the TV station that aired Macross) recently lost them in Japanese court. dis astranagant fucked around with this message at 21:10 on Nov 15, 2012 |

Psion posted:early BT was just asking for a huge wave of copyright lawsuits It's not just early BattleTech, but they've pretty much nipped that in the bud. From memory: - The Battletech Universe takes a lot of its cues from Dune (so do many other works, including Fading Suns and Star Wars) - The Unseen - Dr. Banzai -> Buckaroo Banzai - Natasha "The Black Widow" Kerensky -> Marvel's Natasha "The Black Widow" Romanov - Spider (Battlemech) -> Spider Man (stylistically). It's more of a homage, though - Venom (Battlemech) -> Venom (oh look it's a bigger spider! ) - Alexander loving Kerensky Now, for other things that are a stretch: - Various other `Mechs have been named after Marvel superheroes, but this gets a pass because the Shadowcat is awesome and superhero names are silly enough that it could be coincidence. - Hanse Davion is King Arthur - Ardan Sortek is Sir Lancelot - Melissa Steiner is Gwenhwyfar (thankfully this plotline was interrupted by THE CLANS and Ardan Sortek was never seen again and nothing came of this OR DID IT?!) - Morgan Hasek-Davion is Gawain - Victor Steiner-Davion is Mordred (and brought about the doom of - Katherine is also Mordred - Max Liao (Sword and the Dagger, 1987) is basically Lo Pan (1986) crossed with Fu Manchu (1933, most recent movie in 1980), but this doesn't really count. - Janos Marik is also someone but I forget who OH WAIT SPACE 80s, HE'S LENIN

Actually, I take it back. Janos Marik isn't Lenin (except for the completely bald version of his character that shows up later in the Warrior Trilogy). No, Janos Marik is really Charlton Heston (as Cardinal Richelieu) Edit: Also, everyone evil in Battletech has a widow's peak big enough to give Vegeta a run for his money.
