Man I'd call Gervais an annoying douchebag and someone I don't find funny but I wouldn't call him a hack.

Merchant is really funny. Gervais is awful though. His stand up is terrible. And his laugh, my god his laugh...indigi posted:Oh, you don't know what it means! Why didn't you just say so? I tried to get into Chelsea Peretti's podcast but the callers are terrible and walk all over her. Yeah, the best podcast is a call-in show but Tom's been doing it since the Clinton administration. He's knows how to deal with callers. It might get better with time but I'm bailing. COUNTIN THE BILLIES fucked around with this message at 02:18 on Nov 15, 2012 |

It's easy to call Gervais a hack. His stand-up career is exclusively based on having a successful tv show and the lack of experience shows. Did anyone see him on Talking Funny?

Was that the one where he collected Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock together in the hope that legitimacy worked by osmosis?

Since you've never clarified what you consider the correct definition, I'll assume you mean 'joke thief', and point out that it also applies to comics who take their setups to only the most obvious/unsurprising places, and that that's a slightly more subjective metric.

It's a great sappy song, even though Wet Hot American Summer has kinda ruined it for me Today's live You Made It Weird was loving amazing, also. Every guest was on fire and a beautiful detail about Pete's past was revealed that almost acts like a punchline to his entire 'former life'.

Good lord Chelsea Peretti is awful. I've been catching up on a few back eps of Doug loves Movies and She was being out-comedied by a 9 year old girl.

Hari Kondabalu backs me up on my "Chelsea Peretti is awkward around people" stance in the latest YMIW. Kurt Metzger is a brilliant genius. The 2 minute story of Pete meeting his good ex-wife alone is worth listening to the episode for.

Chelz is hilarious, but IMHO it's very easy to see why some people don't like her. You either hate her or love her. She's abrasive and an rear end in a top hat and whiny but unless you listen to her long enough and realize these are just a few of her many defense mechanisms against most social interactions, then you're just gonna think she's abrasive and whiny and an rear end in a top hat. On a related note, I got free Laugh Factory tickets this Wednesday and she's on the bill
