It's just really, really weird to me how you have this song with hundreds of millions of views, where people listen to it a hundred times over, with a word recited a dozen+ times, and only a small handful of listeners seem to hear that "N" sound at the end. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go listen to my favorite Beatles song, "Hey Jew." Pumpkins are a common food in Korea, they're not exactly the same as pumpkins in America. The Koreans I know aren't blind or deaf, they're just the normal people around Ansan and Seoul. I guess it just doesn't matter to most of them, like GF said it all amounts to the same thing "it's OPPAN not OPPA" is something I've only heard on the Internet. I think the song is finally dying though, the club outside my apartment only plays two remixes a night now!

The van doesn't stop and does nothing but drive around. I presumed it was an advertisement but there's literally nothing else written on it except 호박. Now I assume it's following me around because it knows I have PTSD from that loving song and fly into a rage/curl into the fetal position, weeping, when so much as half a second of it plays. 호박 is also slang for ugly.

If you've been watching your General Korean TV you would know that a lot of produce is sold off the back of the truck as they roll through your neighborhood either playing Uppa Pumpkin Stile or with recordings constantly yelling the name of whatever they're selling. There aren't really any noise pollution laws here, and Election Season is hell if you're trying to sleep in and you're in a populous area as they have trucks yelling campaign slogans too. Edit: Huh, guess I was wrong, but I still have produce trucks and vans roll through my ville all the time.

And I agree noise pollution sucks. There are laws, but it seems that all the vendors/campaigners ignore them. I know for the vendors (and taxis/buses breaking traffic laws) people go "they're trying to make a living so I should let it slide." I know when I'm driving/others are, we're more likely to yield to a taxi or let him cut a line because we know how hard it is for them to make money. -- Regarding OPPAN GANGNAM STYLE: I have never heard a full/normal Korean sing it without the N. And I've had quite a few spontaneous karoke/singing bursts of that song when it came on the radio/street. Just putting my personal experience out there. From what I can tell, fans aren't really mad that she's humping Eunhyuk or whatever, they're mad that her company thinks everyone is an idiot and that people will swallow whatever lies they feed them. I mean, she was really sick so he took off his clothes and got into bed with her? Really? That's the best they could come up with? Reminds me of Jiyeon's porn scandal back in the day. Even after it was conclusively proven that it was her via multiple pieces of corroborating evidence, CCM still denied it. At that point you might as well just tell the truth, because adding 'lying piece of poo poo' to the list of reasons why people don't like you really isn't doing you any good.

I think the video was her flashing/showing her tits on webcam? Problem is, she was a minor at the time. Whether it was her or not: I guess there still is a chance, but all the evidence they found (her screen name matching up with other videos confirmed of her, and hell, even matching up the location of dots on her arms/face, etc) seems to point to it being her pretty conclusively.

Enjoying the album on first pass, currently on 'Stay Girls' which is my favourite of the bunch so far. Really hoping for a full on huge ballad before the end though... those were the standout tracks on the original Japanese album for me. God I'm such a sucker for those.

There's only one ballad, the very last track. My favorite is Boomerang, which makes me think of a kind of Japanese Goldfrapp

I wasn't so keen on Boomerang on first listen, maybe it's a grower. I did like T.O.P. though, I'm guessing it's a reference to the guy from Big Bang? Forgot Oh! was on the tracklisting so that got a laugh when I heard it come over, and 'All My Love Is For You' was a nice track I only heard the once when the video came out, so enjoying that. So far so good, and definitely a few tracks to add to my personal 'Best of...' I think. Better than 'The Boys' imo, not quite up there with the earliest stuff (although the production is gorgeous, and better than the earlier stuff).

The whole thing is bewildering, since Beep Beep is better than anything that actually did make the album, and it seems more like a throwaway now. That song would also be ridiculously easy to turn into English (and would be much more coherent than The Boys was), but SM doesn't look like he wants to press the issue.

It was interesting to search and read about the Itaewon district and the conflicting views on it. I'm still reserving judgement on the JYP dude, and I don't like how UV isn't mentioned in the video title.

I've become addicted to watching the practice versions of the music videos. There's something just so satisfying about watching the idols dancing in their daggy old clothing in their tiny studios. Often, if the studio has a clock or windows you can see it's insanely late at night, so you can guess they've been practicing their routine for countless hours (well, for countless hours on that day alone, in one of the Heroes episodes Gahee says that a single minute of dance takes a full week of practice to learn!), but they still look so fresh and full of energy, it's amazing. It used to be almost impossible to find the practice vids, or they'd be really lovely quality, now everyone's doing it. Of course, now that it's becoming a 'thing', the companies are starting to care about how they come out. The one for Jewelry's latest release, Look At Me, has multiple angles and is very professional. Takes all the fun out of it
