same thing happened with an old farm cat of ours. He just disappeared for a day or two, came back and it was clear that he'd had a stroke or something. He was a pretty old adopted stray. It seems like when it's a big thing like that, it just kinda happens. My wife and I recently took in an old cranky housecat that had been pretty much abandoned by her owners on a farm. Toonces isn't too fond of the new company, but they are progressing. I hope we can give Marshmallow a good end-of-life run/nap.

one of our family cats contracted west nile a long time ago and went down hill instantly, it was really sad and sudden. her sister still lives with my mom and is a fat old mamma cat. she was crazy but would always want to sleep on my bed and my mom's email address is still her name i unfortunately don't have any pics of her but here's the one that's still alive, although 10 years younger

Sniep posted:the fact that he was blind, deaf and becoming brain dead was my trigger that there was no worth in "saving him" - it would have just prolonged his suffering This showed that you loved each other and you did right by him. I killed Pachinko because if I didn't she would have been suffering for a long, long time. gently caress that. We love these beasts. Honor them by letting them die at the right time. I still have Pachinko's ashes. I will for decades to come. I hurt thinking of her. I also laugh. And sigh. And get goosebumps. Our cats are awesome. Pachinko was awesome. Mr. Cat was awesome. Thanks for honoring Mr. Cat and letting go at the right time. Mr. Kitten/Leo will become a "personality" in time. You will see. I picked Lulu, my ex picked Dexter, who I didn't care about. Now they are both my little fuzzy kids. It's just how it works.
