poo poo economies, some of the shittiest stadia in Europe, high ticket prices, prevalent ultras and hooligans, and bad scheduling lead to a lot of fans deciding they'd rather stay home and watch the match on the tele

Weekday matches are terrible for attendance, but yeah, we have some pretty bad figures. The stadium from that game was far from empty, it's just that was the away support. I can't blame Udinese's fans for not making a 6+ hour drive on a Monday night to watch them play against mid to lower table opposition.

There are also some of the best stadiums in Europe there, the San Siro and the new Juventus stadium are awesome. The Marassi, where that match was played, is also great.

I'll concede on the other points.

I don't see any rule to that effect. As far I know the ball is in play till it's motion is stopped or goes out of play. By your example a ball that hit the crossbar, bounced down onto the ground outside and then bounced back into the goal would not be awarded. (Which is what kind of happened here except it was a slow roll versus a fast bounce)

That video is actually a bit old and there was some debate when it came out, but the prevailing judgement was that it is dead as soon as it hits the bar. I'm not sure the exact rules that falls under, but it's probably best to take it to the Ref thread if you are still curious.
