Having just watched Pulp Fiction recently, no character in that film was supposed to be likable or one some one should aspire to be. Tarantino's character of Jimmy especially seems terrible as he's just some middle man in Wallace's enterprises and loves using the N-word despite being married to a black woman.

I didn't notice it the first time I watched it (I was 13 or 14 to be fair) especially since she's only shown for about 5 seconds but after reading it being mentioned and paying attention Bonnie is clearly black or African.  But good point, this is a derail because we're giving credence to Drudge about racism after he, Hannity, and the bumblefuck with the bowtie tried passing off Obama having emotion as him being a violent black man back in October.

The War Against Christmas stuff is ridiculous, but this American Atheists guy is also really annoying. Oh wow... I made it to the halfway point of the video and the Fox guys quickly made him seem a lot less annoying. That's the smuggest thing I've ever seen on Fox. Tarantino is weird. Is it really that deep or is it maybe that he just wants to say it and his movies let him do it? He's writing the movies right and, at least in pulp fiction, even speaking the lines all with the cover of it being a character. That he wrote in his movie. Otoh I'm pretty sure every time i saw him on Leno he was drunk.

Either they've just accepted him for who/what he is, which is often what one has to do in show business, or he's not racist as much as he is a barely-functional basket case who also makes profitable movies. Tarantino's never struck me as racist, but rather someone who just wants his films to have a lot of street cred via realistic-sounding dialogue (though I will grant he does go over the top with that, so it's probably a moot point). The characters of Jules and Jackie Brown pretty convincingly shoot down any "Tarantino's a racist" arguments to me, because neither of them act in any real stereotypical fashion or in a way that consistently panders to a bigoted white person's view of black people. Jules in particular, as he gets some very choice dialogue that shows there's more to the guy than just being a Jheri-curled hitman.

Vincent is the unrepentant junkie who's shenanigans almost kills his (black) boss' (white) wife, Vincent is the one who has to talk himself out of trying to take advantage of Mia Wallace, Vincent is the aggressive poo poo talker in the Bonnie Situation, Vincent is the one who shot Marvin in the face, Vincent is the one who dies due to his life of crime. Jules, by the end of the movie, is practically a Saint in comparison.

Rush was ragging today on the 12-12-12 Sandy benefit concert, presumably because all the money goes directly to George Clooney so he can give it to Obama or something. It was pretty bad; what little I heard of it. Also, I guess Boortz is officially gone now and has been replaced by Herman Cain. The 15 minutes or so I heard of it was actually worse than I expected, primarily because there's never been a more obvious example of a shameless opportunist cashing in on the conservative media bandwagon. Except Sarah Pailn. And Newt Gingrich. And Dick Morris...and who am I kidding? About 20 other people but this seemed worse somehow. Honestly, maybe it bothered me more because Herman is black and the whole show seemed like so much shucking and jiving, complete with (speaking of Tarantino) music that was straight out Shaft! and Superfly. The whole thing reeks of the Michale Steele/Cloin Powell/Condi Rice phenomenon where they prop someone of minority status up there to parrot Republican talking points in order to discredit accusations of racism. I'm actually interested to see where Herman takes this show, for some morbid reason. He's the only minority I can think of running a conservative AM talk show and Boortz was just totally off the rails at the end there - to the point of self parody.

Speaking of Glenn Beck, my all time favorite Beck moment was when he had a guy on the show who was a liberal. He asked the guy how much he made, and he said "about 17,000 a year." Beck starts going off on how "I give 30% of my income to charity, how much of your income do you give to charity. Why do liberals always refuse to be as charitable as conservatives?" Completely glossing over the fact the guy who he is talking down to is below the poverty line.
