Okay so there was the Joel era MST episode for 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' and I know that Cinematic Titanic also did that movie recently. But I could SWEAR I once watched it with Mike, Bill and Kevin riffing it also. Did rifftrax do a SCCtM riff, or am I just insane?

Insane. Which is understandable. We've all seen a lot of really bad movies.

The Ferocious Wolf, his beloved catchphrase of "Oh, my ulcer!", is by far my new favorite Christmas character. Although Merlin has a catchier theme song.

I don't know if I could possibly pick between Merlin's top hit "Ta Daa" and the insanity inducing smashed accordion that follows around Ulcerwolf. Perhaps some sort of duet is in order.

Yeah, they're doing a one night rebroadcast of both Plan 9 and Manos in January. I missed both the first time since they weren't in my city. I've already caught Plan 9 but I definitely want to go see Manos.

Hopefully there are more theaters showing it then currently available because if not yikes. I live in Southwestern CT and the closest theater to me is over an hour away in either direction. Last time there were two within reasonable driving distance (and the show was sold out).

e: Ahhh you're WAY up in CT. Yeah usually Manchester or somewhere like that will show it. Milford did it last time but apparently isn't this time.

I'm also in CT, and the number of theaters that host Rifftrax has been going up. I couldn't see the first Live show because it was only along the shoreline or go up to Mass. Now I have choices, and I'm waiting for the Plainville theater to start carrying them too.

That said, I'm not going to these because I saw Manos live, and I have Plan 9 on DVD.

Isn't that TJ Miller? He's showing up in a lot of movies and TV shows in cameo roles, despite never being incredibly funny, and often straying into annoying. His stand up is pretty mediocre, too.

He does seem nice enough, though.

I'm pretty sure all the bits were just from Santa Claus, except for that one scene in Merlin's lab.

The one in Merlin's lab with the Tada song was in the Santa Claus movie, but they cut the scene out for time for the MST3K episode.

The Avengers riff gets a solid 4, maybe 4.5 out of 5 from me.

Highlights: constant ripping of Coulson and Hawkeye, Downey Jr's quipping, Sky Anus, the whole "Yes unidentified craft, you seem to be exploding next to us but we still love you and trust you implicitly" thing. A ton of big laughs and didn't slow in the middle like I generally find with the blockbuster riffs.

Currently waiting through the credits because this MP3 still has 5 minutes to go...

It had some good laughs, I just have trouble making it through these Marvel movies ... I had to stop and take a break and come back to it quite a few times. I still haven't made it further than maybe 45 mins of Capt America.

I liked the parts where they were making fun of the Hulk/Thor banter while thousands of people were killed.

I loved it, as I said above, but mostly because of my love for the movie. The riff itself is kind of weak overall. But it has enough really good riffs in it that they overshadow the rest of the dull parts. My biggest problem with it was the fact that I found myself wanting to pay more attention to the movie than the riff.

That's why I haven't finished Casablanca or Casino Royale. Not that I'm accusing Avengers of being a good movie, but they just weren't as ruthless as when they clearly know the subject matter is a complete loving turd.

The only GOOD movie riffs that really held my attention were Jurassic Park (Top 10 material) and Jaws (alright). And the Star Wars original trilogy, but they're in a grey area of good-because-nostalgia.

I used the New Years coupon to stock up on a few VODs I had passed over. The Revenge of Dr X really reminds me of a classic MST3K; The guys singing to pass the time during the numerous traveling montages being a good example.

I gotta say, the Dr. Bragan character tops that abusive, alcoholic redneck from Galaxy Invader for "most despicable character ever to appear in a Rifftrax VOD" which really is an accomplishment

They do know how to market to their audience, I'll give them that. I'd already done a shorts-purchasing binge over the holidays and this coupon made me get about another 30. I just don't like browsing the site now and seeing gaps in the "You own this" buttons :(

It's worse if you own the DVDs, because then of course you own it, but the site won't register it. (Not that I would expect it to).
