The new Calyx & Teebee album has been out for a while now. I haven't had a chance to really listen to it, I don't dislike it but I'm not super excited about it either. I have only listened to it on laptop speakers so far though.

Speaking of wishing for Drum and Bass gigs; I'm in Oahu, Hawaii for a week and I'm hunting for some Drum and Bass and lamenting my inability to find anything. This makes me sad Ah well, I'll just have to chill at the beach.

If you like house music there is this club in Oahu called asylum that throws pretty decent parties. There are also some cool clubs in china town but I forget the names. But no you won't find any drum and bass.

Just curious, what did you use to mix this set? Some of the transitions are suspiciously clean. Oh I definitely had to cheat for the double drops. I use a V7 so anything more than 2-decks is unheard of. I just mix in ITCH and everything. I do agree with the Sweet Shop part. Listening back, I realize i hosed up and brought Trap in way too loud, but it's not too terrible. I spend many many hours before I have a mix to put up on Soundcloud. I try to get everything sounding just perfect and will sometimes stop recording and re-record the whole thing if I didn't like my transition. I appreciate the feedback though guys. Next mix is gonna be pretty insane though I think. Gonna try to push somewhere close to 1 track for every minute full of the hardest neurofunk and other dark stuff that I have, this time without any cheats! Hopefully will be able to fit in some legitimate double drops there. Also, definitely check out Mindscape's album if you haven't yet. Whole album is tons of awesome neurofunk. Critters with MC Coppa is definitely a standout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmKSXyId-Tw

Anybody heard the new Mistabishi album Skum yet? I just listened to the whole thing and...well, it's definitely different than Drop. Apparently he came out with an album last year called Trip, but this is the first I'm really hearing from him since he got ejected from Hospital. It's kind of all over the place. Definitely not how he used to sound, from what I recall. Hell, some of it isn't even drum n bass. Some of it almost sounds like slightly less schizophrenic breakcore. The only song on here that really sounds like his old stuff with some new tricks thrown in is Extra Life. But anyway, the DNB tracks are pretty neat, albeit kind of jarring to hear at first. Here's a 24 minute album sampler for you to check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LoujRmIXss

I enjoyed Drop and Trip although the latter is very experimental and harder to get into. From listening to the mini mix of Skum that you posted it sounds like he is continuing along the experimental vein and it sounds nothing like Drop. Not that that's a bad thing of course. Edit: I just picked up Enei's latest album, Machines, based on the good reception in this thread and it is brilliant. It feels somewhat like a cross between Syncopix and Evol Intent. I'll start things off... 1. Audio - Headroom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgmNn8H-ZOA It's VERY hard for me to not squeeze this track into every set I've played recently. Audio always brings the quality and this track gives me chills everytime. 2. S.P.Y - Analogue Dreams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Y9Xgcz058 It was very hard for me to grab my favorite track off the album since it's one of the best drum & bass albums EVER, but drat if this isn't one of my favorites. 3. Jaydan - Element https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nqjia42iq8 This is a bit of a wildcard pick, but I'm a sucker for those amens. 4. Calyx & Teebee - You'll Never Take Me Alive f/ Beardyman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8C8W8PAmt4 I had to pick one track from this album for this list and frankly, I could have picked almost any track from the album for this list. 5. Optiv & BTK - Mind Control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coHaUgqQiFg No one is making drum & bass that sounds like THIS anymore. This one takes me back. Honorable Mention: Joe Syntax - Signal Drop VIP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34zZMWBviks Ok, so this was probably produced in 2011, but it was recently released on Med School's Medical Mix release in October so it counts. Not much I can say about this, especially if you're heard the original. Great tune that bounces from deep mellow basslines to chopped amens. It has a bit of a Lynx vibe to it.

Hell yeah, following in second place... 1. Black Sun Empire Feat. Thomas Oliver & Youthstar - All Is Lost (From The Shadows) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXkOHVqo93w Absolutely massive track from BSE's most recent album "From The Shadows". The drop on this one is catastrophic. 2. Zardonic & Messinian - Survive (Vulgar Display Of Bass) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N6PeMtyNnM Usually I hate any and all dubstep producers however Zardonic is an exception to the rule as he manages to toe a fine line between the two genres. His most recent album, "Vulgar Display of Bass", is exactly that and is a great listen. 3. Octane & DLR - Cometh The Horde (Method In The Madness) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTPsnvt3U7g A very well put together track from an equally well produced album. 4. Logistics Feat. Nightshade & Sarah Callander - Crystal Skies (Fear Not) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbJRpft4L98 Some may find it a bit corny but I really don't give a drat. It's a beautiful track with lovely lyrics 5. SpectraSoul - Sometimes We Lie... (Delay No More) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya8wOBZMAfI Very nice minimal downtempo track. Smooth as all hell. B-B-B-Bonus Track: Utah Jazz - Conrad Funk (Groove Therapy) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQUw9WnB2lE As the name implies, Utah Jazz delivers some very smooth and jazzy beats. Another Bonus Track: High Contrast - The Road Goes On Forever (The Agony & The Ecstasy) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bopS0iF9sKA Very high energy track, love the flourishes in the chorus. The Brookes Brothers have a killer new track they released back in October, and I'm surprised that it slipped by my radar. Between this and their first LP they're probably one of my top favorite producers out there right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr50pPvbJwk

I was pretty disappointed with it to be honest, their album was solid and I was hoping they wouldn't go down the same route as the Hospital, Viper etc. artists, but putting out tracks like that is a really bad sign. It's clear they're talented and I'd hate to see it go to waste on that sort of stuff. It's bad enough that Netsky's literally making Mickey Mouse tunes now, let's not watch everyone go down that route.

What that is so awful... embarrassing. Could some artists make it any more blatant they are producing for the Radio 1 daytime playlist audience? I didn't listen to S.P.Y or Sick Music 3 yet but someone give me a heads up, is it worth it? S.P.Y has always been great so i really hope it's good.. By the way Mitsubishi had another album out last year under the LOL moniker that is so unique really... i personally think it's excellent. It's just totally it's own sound and it's quite amazing if he's just gone and made another unique album. I think this kind of stuff won't be appreciated properly for a long time prehaps. I wish he'd get a release on R&S or Black Acre prehaps.
