If you grab TV on a regular basis, it's really worth sitting down and converting everything over to Sickbeard and letting it handle it from then out. Put a weekend aside and you'll pretty much never have to think about it again, which is kinda awesome.

If you don't have a specific reason not to, use Sickbeard/CouchPotato. Unless you're one of those people who are very anal about their file naming AND do it in a strange way you can probably integrate it with your current setup fairly painlessly. If you use XBMC as a HTPC frontend and SAB to download (as you should be doing in both cases) you can have everything working entirely automatically with Sickbeard and Couch Potato. I don't think I've messed with the file/folder naming and I end up with the following in my TV and Movies directories: TV: <showname>\<season>x<episode> - <title>.<extension> Movies: <title> (<year>)\<title>[ CD<disc>].<extension> So I'd end up with something like "Top Gear\01x01 - Stig Outruns a Speed Camera.avi" or "Caddyshack (1980)\Caddyshack.mkv" with no effort on my part and it automatically ends up in my XBMC library ready to watch. I'm still trying to figure out automatic processing on the unfortunately common multidisc releases to get a single file without re-encoding, so I have a few with CD1/2/3 tags that I have to get around to manually combining in VirtualDub.

I love my Couchpotato/Sickbeard setup but sometimes there are movies I have to track down manually. This is usually reserved to foreign films though due to naming conventions. Also, does headphones work for anyone? It was always horribly slow so I just uninstalled it.

Is that one of those shows where scene naming scheme doesn't match what thetvdb uses? I think there's manual things you can put in play that resolves those (I saw someone mention one for American Dad anyway, as TVDB is +1 season ahead of every other goddamn person on the planet for their own dumbass reasons). XBMC and the programs that work with it is one of the few times I look at community and open source projects and think 'wow, it's awesome when things come together'. Then I look at TheTVDB and remember how 99.9% of these kinds of projects are ruined by power hungry idiots with stupid opinions.

I'm using SuperNews, and have only been able to hit like 3-4Mbps download speeds lately, where my general FIOS connection can usually max out arount 6-8Mbps. I'm set for 30 connections (the SuperNews max), but can't seem to get the top speeds I should have available to me. Any ideas?

Try reducing the connections to 15 maybe? I don't know if that'll actually help you at all, but it allowed me to reliably cap out at 12.5Mbps. Failing that, have you tried switching to their EU server to see what you can pull from there?

Are you in the northeast? I'm in NYC area and having speed issues as well. Opened a ticket with them cause after some speed test and trace routes they couldn't figure it out so passed along to their engineers. Also on Verizon Fios.

Cutting my connections to 15 halved the speeds I was already getting, so that didn't help at all. I maxed out to 30 connections and switched to the EU server, and now I'm getting full speeds again. I am in central Pennsylvania, so maybe it's a regional issue with the US server as you mentioned.

I thought that even if you specified European server it would get routed through closest server to you. Oh well, I will post when I hear back from them.

Does anyone have any information on nzpre? I'm having a rough time finding any information at all, and I'd like to be able to get that set up in my newznab server if at all possible, as I *think* it cuts down on the hashed stuff in the header pulls. I think?

Can I get a bit of help with getting newznab sites like Usenet-crawler and nzbzombie working with sickbeard? I've tried adding nzbzombie as a custom Newznab provider, entered my API key as requested, but when it searches I see lots of errors like "error loading Nzbzombie URL". it looks like Sickbeard is trying to use it, but it just errors out. I've been poking around for a solution but my googling skills have failed me. What am I doing wrong?

Weird thing is that I've tried that and it seems to automatically strip that from the site url field. I'll make a change, hit the Save Changes button at the very bottom, then navigate away and when I come back the http:// will be gone.

If you've added the URL before, it seems to stay in your config file even if you delete it within the program, and trying to add it back with the http will give an error. Maybe try shutting down SB and clear out the newznab providers in your config file, then restart SB and add them back.

You need to delete the entry completely, then re add it from scratch. For some reason you can't modify any custom ones.

You didnt read far enough back or in to as much detail on the pages you went back to. Nothing is wrong with NZB.su. They purged a ton of inactive/non-vip/anonymous email accounts and they shut their front door essentially to keep traffic down. You should probably be looking at spotweb anyways

Just a heads up for those using Astraweb with an automatic renew option through 2CheckOut. Astraweb isn't using that particular service anymore, and will deactivate your account at the end of your billing period. They don't send a warning email, on purpose apparently: quote:Your subscription has lapsed and we have deactivated your account. You will no longer be billed. We did not notify you earlier, as we had to let your account Anyway, the link in the email they do send you takes you straight to a page where you can setup another payment option. Worked fine for me, and I didn't have to change usernames or passwords or anything. Wanted to mention it here in case someone's deactivation email gets filtered to spam.

A question to those of you who have set up your own newznab servers - which usenet provider do you use? So far I've tried both Astraweb and Supernews, and have had mixed results. Astraweb works, but i don't seem to get as much stuff indexed as I'd expect (especially compared to the amount of stuff which gets indexed at nzbs.org or nzb.su). Supernews seemed to get more, but then I found i was getting hundreds upon hundreds of '.Server did not return 1 article(s).' for each group it was trying to index. Even with Supernews I wasn't getting as much stuff indexed as I'd have liked (or expected). Has anyone else had mixed results, or know how to get around this?
