https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfJANCCEax4 I made a new Jozy Altidore goals montage TRP. Jozy's been scoring lots of goals at his current club AZ so it was high time for a new video. I only hope 2013 brings more goals for my favourite US striker. Oh and I uploaded a sweet little clip featuring a legendary FA Cup goal, its worth a watch too imo to get you in the mood for the weekends FA Cup action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGqxMpUNKG8

Redundant posted:This was one of my least favourite Neville clips if I'm honest. Alan Hansen said something similar and criticised Sergio Aguero for staying on his feet instead of going over easily to try and win a penalty and I just disagree with it. I understand the players doing it but condoning it and saying that diving is the right thing to do is ridiculous. I want to see less diving and harsher/retroactive punishments for doing it, having pundits saying diving is fine isn't really helping that because they're making out that it's just "part of the game" like it's somehow acceptable to cheat. It isn't. How about defenders stop loving fouling, huh?

It isn't. There's some merit to the contact begets simulation argument (which Chamberlin alluded to). But I do agree that to take it even further to Neville's (and many pros') extreme is lovely. It's part of the disconnect that money's infusion into sport has changed. Fans want to see their clubs win trophies, regardless of how entertaining the games are. Results matter more than the execution, because they mean more money and the potential for more trophies. There are times when it really is a loving passionless exercise played out on a pitch.

When diving is punished as harshly as fouling I will feel the same way about both. Going over cheaply is hardly ever punished and it stinks.

It isn't. In a sense he is correct but I'm seriously repulsed by the way he can say (regarding cycling) "I'd rather see a gold medal than see Great Britain play fair." Shouldn't be the solution to stamp out unfairness than to stoop to its level? It's idealistic but there's something disturbing about an accomplished, decorated footballer coming out to say, "We shouldn't make a big fuss about diving."
