It still has a bit of a reputation from the shooting that happened there a few years ago, but it's basically just a typical Phnom Penh club nowadays. I actually went recently for the first time in about 2 years. It was full of tourists and freelancers, so pretty much exactly as I remember it. As ReindeerF said Pontoon is probably the more popular place, although they fired the manager a couple of months ago and it's gone kinda downhill since. Are you in PP at the moment then? So, I leave for Cebu in 2 weeks. I don't really have big plans, so I'm pretty much open to doing anything. I figure as long as I'm not dumb I won't get robbed. Anyways, anyone have recommendations of what to do there. People are all over the map on what's good. I've got a hotel in Mandaue City for 8 days, but I'm willing to still over night somewhere else. My main goal of most vacations is to collect experiences.

I'm heading to Thailand in about a week and haven't booked hotels/hostels at all yet. Everyone I've spoken to just says it's easy enough to wing everything, and that's very much my style of travel. But I figured I'd double check with you guys: Should I in fact make some reservations before it's too late? If I should, does anyone recommend any particular (Cheap, I don't care for luxury) accommodations? Also, how easy is it to get a prepaid SIM for my phone while I'm there? No, no. I've had that before. I mean like, call girls that deliver you room service. As in they'll bring you food, water, and something extra. If you place a large order, more than one comes up. Okay, yeah, that's definitely a WTF, heh. I assume from the description that you're in Fort Boni? I've been to that Shangri La once, but didn't stay and so didn't see any of this (also wasn't greeted by a call girl in the lobby or served by one in the bar).

yeah, there are two of them now. the actual hotel (which is closer to the Makati RLD) and the residences/hotels combo, which is near the mall (which is what most people stay at) Then there's a third one, the Shangri-La mall, which is being built.. I am also a goooooold member, so maybe that had something to do with it. Don't know how they manage to do it, very respectable folks down in the lobby. The girl carted the food in and basically asked to freshen up; which was just . Next morning, I decided to leave, so I got a cab, asked to go to the Hyatt in malate and the guy was "sooo.. you enjoying it here? you been to any clubs? no? why not? you dont like the ladies there? then, how about a girl's college? i know a good place that has an all-female dorm " it was 7 AM.

Yes, that is the polite answer. Don't mistake it for a "close your eyes, say la-la-la-la loudly" kind of thing. If they want to come for some of the exotic women~ or ladyboys~ or whatever, that's their thing and just leave them to it because you're better off not knowing or wanting to know. Since this is the internet please describe this coworker in detail and why it disgusts you. For better content put black bars over his face and post how much he fits your stereotype. FWIW, the U.S. takes illegal sex tourism very seriously; especially in the case of human trafficking and pedophilia. It gives all Americans abroad a bad reputation and the State Department is having none of that / H-dawgs and Rice made it bullet points during their tenure. Homeland keeps (AFAIK/C, an unofficial) list of countries that people tend to go for that kind of thing, countries like Thailand, with a high conviction rate of U.S. pedophiles going there for sex. Off-the-records they kind of flag any single males coming/going in a short time; in the same manner they off-the-record flag any 'muslim-appearing' folks for further patdowns under the guise of random inspections. That's why you get the peciular version of 20 trip-questions and strange looks when you come back from Bangkok, becuase of the statistic probability. You can see it yourself in action, next time you return from Thailand, tell them you stayed in Pattaya for the views. that said you can usually point out a sexpat pretty far away. they're not goon-y, they're like a step below that.

ProfessorCirno posted:So where in general would you recommend? Ao Nang? Guess it's already waaaaaay back in the thread, but I went rock climbing in Raileh, a small island off Ao Nang beach near Krabi town. It's a small pricier island with a very nice beach (James bond beach) and lots of rock climbing. If money and time is no object, go everywhere. That's the fun part of SEA, there's always some off beach you can go or hear about. My next SEA travel goal, go south to Indonesia and try island hop to Australia or Philippines. Probably remote with lots of bumpy boat and bus rides, and take me far out in the sticks. But by the time I can realize the dream, everything will be developed Keep in mind the whole Gulf of Thailand is basically a gigantic beach. You can ask your hostel mates where to go, mingle around, hook up with a travel girlfriend and go where ever or just places and see for yourself. I say this time and again keep in mind that many posters here have been around the block and are pickier than your fresh off the boat ASIA tourist. Heck lots of people already consider Phuket or Pattaya a beach paradise. Or stay in 5 star resorts and call it the day. I was actually surprised in a nice way in Raileh and the lesser big name places "what? girlie bars are rare?"

People here seem to like Big Blue and they're really ok, but also really large so it feels less personal. Also group sizes are up to (not always) six people which can be to big depending on the skills and needyness of the people in your group. However I have no experience with any other school on Koh Tao and I liked my time (as a complete noob) with Big Blue just fine. Later I learned to appreciate smaller groups and smaller schools, where you get to know everyone in a day. Finch is currently doing his DM with Big Blue and I think there is another goon on the island with another school he was quite happy about, especially the fact they're in the water real early, which I'd say everywhere else would suck because you have to get up early, but on Koh Tao, the most abundant species underwater is Homo Sapiens, so it's and advantage.

I don't know what you've found but that seems absolutely impossible. Also don't get your hopes up of landing a nice job right away. There is a lot of difference between having an instructor course under your belt and actually being a good instructor. Zero to hero like packages net you way too little experience.

I've been tooling around Asia for a few months (two months in Japan, one month in Korea) and headed over to Vietnam at the start of December. Traveled North from Hanoi down to Saigon and then over the Cambodia, which is my current location (Siem Reap). I am really enjoying Cambodia! The vibe here is great, Vietnam was a little hectic for my tastes (not to mention some weird night train experiences, nothing like being the only girl in the berth and waking up hearing my berth-mate watching an instructional sex video-- "explosive g-sport orgasms"-- on his phone). Tomorrow I'm heading to Kratie and then onto 4000 Islands in Laos. I was debating going to Thailand first but I am planning on flying to Malaysia at the start of February and Thailand's 15 day overland visa left me with a weird 6 or so day chunk where I'd have to do a visa run. Anyone in Laos or heading there? I've heard really good things but the most resounding description is LAID BACK Not really looking forward to endless lovely bus rides however.
