Sounds like a few people in this thread have never opened or closed an air vent in a Bentley. The levers have felt on the backside of the dash to give them a soft feel. THAT'S attention to detail.

Eh...I'm of the opinion that a nice interior is important when that is what you're going to be looking at the entire time you drive the car. Gauges, especially. The Corvette has always been built to a certain price point, though, and what you give up in interior refinement you get in performance. Parts-bin or not, GM interiors have been getting better across the board. For Christ's sake: compared to the C5 interior you're practically being cradled in the lap of luxury. Does the center tach design remind anyone else of the Viper's tach?

Ok I get that you need a 2 channel mixer, so lets use babby's first battle mixer, but seriously. Then you paint over the platters with the same god awful paint scheme. Never mind that you cover the up the platters with a slip mat. At least I hope to god he uses a slip mat otherwise he will be chewing up every piece of vinyl he puts on it. Once again, what the christ. I cannot fathom this at all. Plus that's gotta be uncomfortable as gently caress to mix on regularly. I'm not one to honestly care too much past the point of everything being where it feels it should be (shifter just right, able to get the seat to a good position, enough room in the peddle box, etc) but that interior looks like quite a comfortable place to be. It's impossible to really tell without sitting in it though, so perhaps this point is best left until some reviews come out.

The Vette is great because it will lay smokey burnouts and some trim levels will run circles around everything on the road, so everyone says "but it has a Cobalt wheel " The loving thing is cheap, and fast as all get out. Everything else is just irrelevant. If you have the money to buy a car with similar performance and can cross shop interior quality, fine....but at that point you're not really who the Vette is targeted at.

People buying at a low price point expect this crappiness, but people spending significantly more expect significantly better kit. GM in particular went decades selling their fanciest vehicles (think big super-expensive Caddys) with switchgear that was rattly and floppy off the dealer lot, if it all worked in the first place; it was one thing when the brand name was enough to sell the car but it continued for far too long after the Japanese brands started eating their lunch. In GM's case it was often obviously so they could reuse the same cheap crap part between Caddy, Buick, Olds, Chevy and Pontiac (i.e. the 'parts bin') but if they had used unique parts between brands and models that were still crap the complaints wouldn't have been meaningfully different (see: older Hyundais.) Compare this to, say, VW, who may put the same switches in a Golf, an A4 and a Boxter, but it's a nice switch to begin with so no one gripes all that much. If I get in my car, I am at a minimum interacting with the door and handles, driver seat, the steering wheel, the pedals, the gearshifter, the turn signal stalks, and the dashboard indications. If these feel floppy, make inappropriate noise, look like rear end, don't work, are at strange unadjustable angles, etc it is going to sour my driving experience. If I'm in a $15k car that's part of the price of admission. In a $45k+ car, it's not. If your priority is that the car should be kept alive forever on junkyard parts, you're not the target audience for new car design regardless. Most states require a reflector in red color. Seeing white reflect back at you is usually no good I would imagine.
