No wonder a gunman could get so close to him, look at how incompetent and unprofessional the security is. When the would-be assassin is on the ground being punched and kicked there's noone even trying to cuff him or anything and only one guy trying to stop people from beating him up.

There was no security at the event. The party chose not to have it. Additionally, Sega is reporting that it was an air pistol and not a real pistol. The party is the Turkish minority party, and the would be assassin was either a member of the party or used to be (and is ethnically Turkish as well). These facts have led some to suggest that the drama was staged.

But seriously, Anchorage is only (statistically) dangerous if you're homeless, a slope worker or some some flavor of meth/crack/draino addict; It just so happens there's a lot of those there and they like their shenanigans. My point is that if you're a white male from upper lower class or better without any ties to the above then it's a pretty safe place, even the "bad" parts like fairview or mountain view are pretty safe.

Also is it wrong that your picture made me a little homesick :shobon:

Hell I was born at Regional and went to UAA for two years, and I can count on one hand the things I miss about Anchorage:

1. My friends
2. Moose's Tooth
3. Humpy's
4. Flattop

Everything else is forgettable strip mallery and sprawl.

You're right that middle class and higher while males have it relatively safe, but even me and my white male middle class buddies had crazy poo poo happen. While cruising Northern Lights (I hung out with the Automotive Insanity types) one dude got his Neon shot the gently caress up, totally random.

I miss Juneau more, much prettier :3:

I work in Alberta's (traditional, not oil sand) oil fields, and seeing poo poo like this last month just off of La Cienega while I was in LA just blows my mind. I knew there were old oil wells in the city, but I didn't expect to see literally hundreds of them side by side.

Preacher Casey was just a workin' man,
And he said, "Unite all you working men."
Killed him in the river some strange man.
Was that a vigilante man?

Oh, why does a vigilante man,
Why does a vigilante man
Carry that sawed-off shot-gun in his hand?
Would he shoot his brother and sister down?

This fine fellow. :godwin:

Don't believe me? Just take a look at what William L. Pierce has written on the subject of gun control in Germany during the Nazi regime's time in power. We've discussed Pierce before in this thread. But for those who don't know he was the founder of the National Alliance, an American White nationalist and National Socialism political organization.

Gun Control in Germany, 1928-1945

It's of course written in such a way that tries to cast Hitler and the Nazi regime in a glorified light, so if you'd rather not slog through some Hitler worship, here's an article about it on Wikipedia.
