If you're saying glass house because you think I'm stupid; on no, what's a guy to do when people on the internet thinks he's stupid?! Which is the very reason I'm not going to put effort into posting about that. I think some people here are stupid and it means nothing. Some people think I'm stupid and it means nothing. The only thing I've been thinking about recently (thinking about posting) is with regard to emotions making people unable to effectively analyze situations. Specifically with regard to certain topics on this board that turn everything to poo poo -- fat people, student loans, a republican said a thing, personal responsibility, engineer/STEM chat. These types of things put together an emotional response that just causes a person to throw all rationality out the window. I mean seriously, how hard is it to reach an agreement that being overweight is not healthy? But it just seems impossible to attain a consensus of that stupidly simple, completely obvious reality that being overweight is unhealthy.
I actually agree that emotion tends to effect people to much, but still its rather ironic you of all people would post stuff like this.

Edit: Though there are inherent problems with just taking pot shots at who you arguing with instead of trying to reason with them. Which is why I prefer not to call them idiots or overly emotional, as all it does is poison the well.

Goons have just as poo poo opinions as people anywhere else on the internet but at least here it's hidden beneath a fine coat of proper grammar and some degree of moderation by the powers that be. At the end of the day there are still people that believe obesity owns and personal names are a means of societal oppression.

Germany is different. The South was defeated in a war like the Nazis, but in the South, the same class of slave-owners were either allowed to return to power, or they just went ahead and regained power by force. (Nazis ended up in positions of prominence in post-war Germany too, but the equivalent to what happened in the South would be like Nazi militias laying siege to Wiesbaden with artillery guns in the 1970s or something: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilmington_Insurrection_of_1898)

And for something like a century, the South's revisionist version of history was allowed to dominate for the sake of "reconciliation," proving false the cliche that "history is written by the victors."

The Bavarian independence movement has nothing (well, OK, not much) to do with the Nazis, and is a lot older than that. The short version is that when the other regions of what is now Germany united in the North German Federation, Bavaria (and some other bits of what is now southern Germany) stayed out. They joined later to form the German Empire, but some Bavarians still maintain that they are not strictly speaking part of the German federation. There's also some debate over whether the last king of Bavaria actually formally abdicated, and whether Bavaria is still technically a monarchy. I should probably say that these are views mostly held by crazy people, those Bavarians who just like antagonizing the North, and the German equivalent of Libertarians.

Incidentally, most countries in Europe have at least one regional independence movement. The UK has at least 4 that I'm aware of, and there are probably more.
