Lately it's been Peach Snapple for me. But only in a glass bottle. I buy the big jugs of it then rinse out a couple glass bottles and fill em up. Worth the minimal time and effort.

It's a very expensive store though so I don't go there often. And yeah I've had both. I can drink the red cap no problem but I prefer the gold cap. Mu Zeta posted:You're just used to bad coffee. I was the same way. Grind the coffee bean minutes before brewing it and it's delicious. I don't add anything to mine. Dredging this back up: If you try good stuff and still don't quite like the taste of coffee, try brewing some with a pinch of salt. Cuts down on the bitterness quite a lot.

I always see 1-liter plastic bottles of Dad's Orange Cream soda (along with Dad's root beer, cream soda, RED Cream, and BLUE Cream) at Big Lots, for $1 each. The Orange Cream is good when ice-cold and served in a frosty mug, but it's hard to beat Stewart's, which is one of my all-time favorite sodas. Speaking of red cream soda and root beer, a lot of gas stations and convenience stores in New Orleans had Barq's red cream soda in fountains, when I was there in the late '90s, and several restaurants had 8-ounce glass bottles of Barq's root beer that was far superior to the mass-produced Barq's that Coke sells in silver cans everywhere else.

I loved Canada Dry Raspberry Ginger Ale as a kid. They re-release either the cranberry or raspberry around Christmastime. I tried the raspberry last year after not seeing it for years, and, to my dismay, all I could taste was sweet. Canada Dry has no bite as it is, and the raspberry flavour just made it taste sweeter.

The red tastes like a cross between cream soda and bubble gum, similar to another soda called Big Red. http://www.bevreview.com/2012/09/26/review-dads-red-cream-soda/ Blue is very similar. If you have a Big Lots near you, check there for Dad's regular and diet root beer and regular, orange, red, and blue cream sodas.

VogeGandire posted:Irn-bru, bitter? I would have said it was the other way, and it's really loving SWEET, not bitter. Agreed. Irn-Bru is extremely sweet, almost cloyingly so. Definitely has that bubblegum kind of taste though. I only realized recently, after hearing a real Scottish person say it, that "irn-bru" is a phonetic spelling of "iron brew" (it was originally some kind of iron supplement drink) if you have a heavy Scottish accent.

+ Half a glass of Sierra Mist Natural and half a glass of ice cold whole milk. Sweet, creamy, and a little bubbly, with a nice citrus hit. Sierra Mist Natural uses sucrose instead of HFC so it doesn't have that weird aftertaste that regular pop always gives me.

Kalos posted:I don't really taste a difference between Pepsi/Mountain Dew and their throwback incarnations, so I wonder how much of this is glass bottle vs can/plastic bottle instead of cane sugar vs hfcs. However, I had about the same reaction to Mexican Fanta, it's like night and day. They offer Throwback in plastic bottles along with regular Pepsi, and I can tell the difference. The cane sugar makes it less sticky-sweet and acidic, more just regular sweet and less chemically flavored. Synthetic Hermit posted:As to orange drinks, my own favorite is Orangina. You may be an actual supertaster, I guess, because Orangina is not at all bitter. It's actually sweeter than a lot of other kinds of orange "juice."

This poo poo is thoroughly good. I'm currently obsessed with this flavor of tea. Sweet, but not too sweet, and not tasting like the tea is ultimately overpowered. My favorite tea. Iced, hot, or done Thai iced tea style--all good.

Chilled birch sap. It's really runny, almost like water, and of course, fairly sweet. It ferments pretty quickly, though, so you have to freeze it if you want it to last. Freshly thawed birch sap is unbelievably god drat refreshing. My parents haven't tapped their trees in few years, though, so I don't have a source for it any more...

That reminds me of this one drink in a kind of similar can that I would get from the Asian supermarket, but it was years ago and now it's driving me crazy that I can't remember. Had a taste like a liquid graham cracker. Also I found out the HEB down the road actually stocks a brand of Mexican coke for like 50 cents a bottle. Beats the hell out of regular corn-syrup soda. e: Found it, it's known as either White Gourd or Winter Melon juice. When I lived in Japan I loved the different orange, purple, green, yellow, and red mixed vegetable juices they had. They are really difficult to find anywhere else in the world I have been. Also, (and this is a personal preference), I have always liked putting grape juice into a class of coke to form a delicious mixed beverage. I've always had a thing for salty tomato-based drinks: V8, Clamato, Bloody Mary mix, or just regular tomato juice. Clamato at times has been the most addictive for me (I'd polish off a large bottle in a day and a half), but I've found lately that it's either gotten sweeter or my enthusiasm has waned a little. I've been known to add MSG to it, which cuts the sweetness and adds an even more savory punch. Celery salt and a little Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce are also some good additions.

Lucerne 2% Milk (suck it, OP). I rarely buy milk because I will drink it all within a few hours. Canada Dry Ginger Ale (the cranberry one is also awesome... had some at Christmas). C-Plus orange pop.
