Tommofork posted:So... AU goons, I'm thinking about selling off my unassembled/unpainted/untouched space marines. Most of it is in in boxes that are a bit dog-eared, some without boxes. I'm not sure what kind of price to set for it, as a guideline percentage of GW's AU prices. WAU or Ebay are both good options. You can get stuffed around a bit with WAU but generally you can make sales, just don't endlessly let people put poo poo on hold. Most people are aware of the fact that you can buy stuff overseas at a discount so most stuff I see is around 70% of US price I suppose. Depending what you have, I may be interested in buying some stuff. Shoot me a PM or email wgirdler87 (at) gmail (dot) com

PierreTheMime posted:But do they have games tables? Store opened at noon, at which time we arrived to find a line around the block stumbling in in single file. They ran out of promo stuff (Marine color scheme poster and drop pod patch) about 12:05 and the rest was just a jumble of way too many people in way too small a space. The guys running the place seemed nice, if completely overwhelmed by the crowd. There are three tables, one dedicated to starter stuff and the other two you could actually game on, plus a little bar in the front for painting or whatever. Honestly a nicer storefront than I was expecting but it's in a crummy strip mall way across town so I doubt I'll go back any time soon. Be forewarned they're only open ~12-6 Wednesday through Sunday. List talk: Chaos Lord, Mark of Slaanesh, Steed of Slaanesh, attached to Bikers with Icon of Slaanesh, Brand of Skalathrax ~340 points for Fleet, Outflanking (re-rolling entry side) with an AP3 Torrent flamer Good idea?

Crosspost from the modeling thread. I decided to see how quickly I could paint a platoon (30) of guardsmen. Turns out it only took a few hours, spread over 2 nights The platoon: A close up on a few soldiers: The camera kept focusing on the 2nd row in the last pic Completely satisfied, considering how little time I spent on each one. Now to move on to their command squad and commissar...

So, I'm thinking of trying to organize a "Terrain Day"/"Terrain Weekend" at my local store sometime early next month. I'm talking to the owner and I'm trying to get him to have a sale on terrain over the weekend (he knows next to nothing about wargaming, so it might take some doing). I'll be there with some tools and materials. The big draw will be if someone comes in and fixes up the store terrain, or brings in their own terrain for use in the shop, they get put into a drawing for some prizes. The biggest thing to try to organize is a good way to keep track of what terrain belongs to who, and to get the store owner to clean up the area we play in. Does anyone have any experience/advice they want to share on this? The store really lacks a "club" or any sort of organization (despite us all knowing each other) so hopefully this will appeal to most of them and get them out to the store.

Just read this battle report and some thoughts come to mind.quote:Three battles. 1850 pts armies. Entire tournament had a special “Nemesis” rule, which means that any unit who scores first blood automatically becomes worth 1 victory point to the opponent. I really like this rule and hope they'll use it every tournament from now on. I wonder if this is a worthwhile rule. 6th ed balance is pretty good in regards to min/max unit sizes and as far as I can tell the First Blood rule is meant to help discourage MSU. What are the ramifications of allowing the opponent to avenge his destroyed unit and get the VP back? Does it defeat the purpose of First Blood in the first place? Does it give an unfair edge to artillery which can score First Blood and continue to sit in the backline, as compared to assault units that would be in the opponent's face if they score First Blood? quote:Bloodthirster vector-strikes one of my vindicators, wrecking it. Screamers turbo over the devastators, dispatching three missile launcher guys and gunner Albrecht, leaving sergeant Jurgen all alone. This occurs in Turn 1. I understand that Screamers Turbo-boost in the Shooting Phase and therefore can do their flyover attack. The Bloodthirster, however, has only just arrived via Deep Strike and I was of the opinion that because 1) you can't move after Deep Strike even as a Swooping FMC and 2) Vector Strikes occur in the Movement Phase, that this Vector Strike isn't allowed by the rules? Is this right? I've been Deep Striking my flying Nurgle DP and only having the choice to Vector Strike from Turn 2 (at the expense of assaulting instead). Edit: quote:Daemon prince lands and assaults a rhino and a tactical squad. You can't do a multi-assault with a single model as far as I'm concerned. Maybe this Daemon player was just cheating. I'm not sure how the rule works in 6th, but in 5th, the "multi-assault-with-a-single-model" mistake seemed to be one of the most commonly mis-understood rules. People seemed unable to comprehend that you needed a second model to be able to assault a second unit.

Let me tell you how much I hate painting plasma guns. I decided to give my CCS a more unique set of models to make them stand out from regular old plasma veterans. Some minor kitbashing and conversion work and later and I ended up with these, which I'm surprisingly happy with. And yes, I realise the medic and vox can't be taken with plasma guns, I just figured they'd make the squad look different. Now to suffer through people at GW sperging out over how a guardsman could never use a plasma gun with just one arm (he eats his spinach, clearly). Now they need a sweet ride, anyone got any ideas for a command-style Chimera?

I have a Leman Russ question. What are god variant choices to get a good synergy with a regular Leman Russ battle tank? I'm thinking an Executioner with lascannon and plasma cannon sponsons. It'll be really expensive points-wise, but that's 5 plasma blast templates, which will devestate MEQ opponents (my main opponents). Are there any other suggestions/experiences? Also, a quick question about squadrons. Are there any advantages to putting vehicles in squadrons other than saving on force org. slots?

Not really an advantage, but if one gets wrecked the squadron can leave it behind instead of it being auto-destroyed (a change from 5th). They never block each other's line of sight either, so seems to me the only real advantage is like you said with the force org slots.

Do you even have to declare deep strike vs. walk on the edge beforehand? I always thought you just held in reserve and then decided when they show up how they enter.
