Man, the last arc was a chore, but this show's finally picking up again.

The best part? Very slight, technically, manga spoiler that you probably are expecting anyway:poo poo gets gloriously more bizarre than that.

Nope, it's the inverse. The last two episodes have covered a single chapter. They're literally taking the two pages that the crew don't immediately help the children in and stretching it out to just under five minutes worth of filler.

I'd be fine with them stretching it out a bit if more of the filler was fighting. Slow pans, flashbacks, and extra background characters crying on the other hand... Regardless, Punk Hazard has a lot of content in its chapters compared to Fishman Island, so things should still be better.

After the 10th shot of the room I laughed a little at how silly it was getting. After the 20th it started to get real old. The whole scene made the strawhats look like assholes, and the giant baby doesn't make any goddamn sense. Did they even read the manga before animating this?

Why are they even running in the first place? Just beat the crap out of them already!

None of the crew ever seem to worry about mortal danger, even when a single stray bullet should be enough to kill them; and whenever they do fight, they mop the floor with their enemies; yet sometimes they arrive at the decision to run. It's always kind of strange when they decide that regular, nameless cannon-fodder is enough to spook them into running away. Especially this time, where if they blinked hard enough (Galaxy Winks aside), they'd've won.

I was reminded of the really drawn out blood transfer scene. I agree the scene was annoyingly drawn out and yeah, really made them look like assholes. When everything started fading to white, I felt like they had really gotten over-the-top dramatic.

Man, what kind of a dick wouldn't want to build snowmen with the Soul King? Also we find out what incredibly macabre things Trafalgar Law has been up to during the time skip.

Is it just me, or does the new music not feel One Piecey? It's sounds like they're using music from other anime.

They've used that music before, though I'll be buggered if I can remember when. Only new music I can recall was last episode, and that was just some guitar strings. Mexican guitar strings at that.

Sanji is showing a lot of restraint actually. He's only shown himself what he has seen for the past half the arc already anyway.

Also, as soon as the hearts began spinning, I knew Sanji would end up in Nami's body.

Since Skypedia doesn't start until 153, I don't think it's much of a problem for a weekly program block. So going any further is probably dependent on it doing ok in the ratings.

It's weird though that Naruto, One Piece and Bleach will be airing after midnight like they're super adult though.

Well, I haven't watched Cartoon Network in a long time but they're not adult, but running uncut there's probably too many episodes that are above PG as well.

The Toonami block is on the Adult Swim section of the channel which runs pretty much independently as its own station. It wouldn't have to worry about censorship. Hell it aired Deadman Wonderland and that was all levels of hosed up.

As someone who watches the Funimation dub (painstakingly slow in making them), they are way past the Skypeia Arc (which was so slow and boring imo) and they're right now up about almost at Enies Lobby, they are dubbed up to 252.

It took them like 3 weeks, but it was worth it. Anyone else think that was a really good fight finally? Probably doesn't need spoiling, but anyone else confused how Law only needs to use his sword at certain times? He can manipulate the ship or swap hearts or do all kinds of various things to people well out of his range, but to injure say Tashigi, he needs to cut her. But other times he can even use his fingers. I guess I'm just thinking too much into it.
Also, how did those kids even make it that far without dying? They don't even have socks let alone any real clothes. Children in anime are always the most annoying characters.

Law cuts things into smaller pieces with his sword. It's not that he can't move things around without cutting them, but rather it makes it easier to gently caress poo poo up by messing with pieces of things.

Go on good sir, you have my full attention.
His power really confuses me.

Half the time it seems to be not useful, cut someone's head off but they're still alive? Kinda defeats the purpose of slicing his head off in the first place.

how does removing a heart trump moving a head?

tsob
Sep 26, 2006

Chalalala~
A person can still function as normal when he removes their heart, so long as he keeps it safe but is under the constant threat of death from him. Pretty much the perfect blackmail material. If you remove someone's head it may be a great way to gently caress with them short term, but doesn't really allow you to do the same kind of long term plans given that you kind of stand out a bit when you wander around headless and really can't function to your usual standards given the lack of sight, sound etc.
