You could try something simple like teaching him to touch your hand with his nose. He could do that laying in your lap without actually moving more than his neck. You could also try teaching him to bark/stop barking on command while he's sitting on or next to you with no movement, but he's a Boston so ymmv. Both of those would be neat things for him to learn and could help shape future behaviors if you want to train him to do other stuff, and he wouldn't really have to move around. Of course, if he got all excited and wiggly, you would have to stop. Or you can do what I'd do and plop down on the couch and watch tv together like lazy bums. It is much easier...

She's flying! I'm trying to pretend its almost spring as it's blizzarding here by looking up lamb pictures from other farmers we've bought from. She was not tricked by the black coat. April needs to hurry up and get here so I can cuddle baby lambs again.

Best way to socialise the hell out of that puppy. I've been at an Ian Dunbar seminar this weekend and he would applaud that guy. He told us stories of walking everywhere with Hugo his Frenchie when he was 6 weeks old, going to the bank, grocery store, etc. (Never going down on the ground to minimise risk. A 7 week old puppy is likely to have some maternal immunity still anyways.)

"She is fortunate to have escaped that attack with her life," said Animal Services Supervisor Mike Duncan. "She loved the dog, but she is very concerned for anyone who is going to be around that dog from now on." Although the dogs owner said that the person's wounds didn't require stitches which probably wouldn't be the case if she had severed arteries and poo poo. I can see it either way. The owner is going to see their dog as a precious angel who would never touch a hair on a person's head, and maybe he wouldn't under normal circumstances, but all the tests he's been through just test HA, while the situation makes it sound like it was a case of DA and redirection. I still don't think he should be put down but if what the person who was attacked said was true I'm not sure I would be comfortable with him remaining a service dog in public. It's a lovely situation all around.

After about ten minutes she wanted to come back inside because her underside was caked with refrozen snow. I might have gotten some good pics that I'll post later (letting camera warm up slowly). It's rainy outside so we played inside today. This is Pistol's "Yay baaaaall!" face. I ended up throwing the ball up the stairs so Pistol would have to run up the stairs and then back down to get the ball and bring it back to me to wear him out faster. Will this do any damage to him? Max took one look at that game and decided not to participate because he's a smart dog.
