New Strokes single might just redeem a bit of faith http://stereogum.com/1259602/the-strokes-all-the-time/mp3s/ It's so much better than One Way Trigger but now I'm confused about what this album is going to be like.

I know there's a couple other Cheap Girls fans in the thread so I wanted to post some links. Lead singer Ian had knee surgery earlier this year and to help pay his medical bills they put up an acoustic version of My Roaring 20's: http://quoteunquoterecords.com/qur063.htm You can download it for free but there's also a paypal link to donate if you so choose. They also put a live album up on their bandcamp which you can stream for free or download for 6 bucks: http://cheapgirls.bandcamp.com/ I haven't listened to the live album yet but the acoustic album is interesting. I'd say it's worth a listen but the regular album is definitely better. EDIT: Acoustic version of All My Clean Friends is the highlight, I really need to learn the chords to this song. So my favorite music of all time is chill beach guitar sounding music, I wanted to see if you guys could add to my collection of these songs. But first I gotta share some of my favorites. Little Joy - Next Time Around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGHbOZBSv18 So Little Joy has held the place of my favorite band ever for a couple years now even though they only ever released one album. I NEED MORE. Fabrizio Moretti (The Strokes) is in the band with Binki Shapiro and Rodrigo Amarante, their sound tastes like The Strokes except mellowed out and some of their songs are in Portuguese. I recommend that everyone buy the album because every song is amazing, you feel like you're on the beach. Thomas Mapfumo - Hokoyo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJf392j20gg I came across this guy because I had to watch a documentary on music from Zimbabwe, it's just another feel good tropical song with amazing guitar. I went through some of his songs on youtube while watching it and this is my favorite one of the ones I looked at. The Love Language - Wilmont https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL1nbmAffEs Here is the Love Language which I feel is a combination of Little Joy and Beach House, this is just a good track I recommend everybody checks out their albums because they're really really good. If anybody could point me in the direction of happy or relaxed guitar infused beach music, basically just similar to ^^^, I would appreciate it!

I am irritated by the number of times I see some piece of auxiliary percussion being quietly played in a video (or on a stage) nowhere near a mic. Ok, I bet that sounds cool for you, guy playing the thing. But the rest of us can't hear it at all and you're basically just jerking off. Irritating. Irritating!

Anyway, it's at 9:30 PM GMT. Neon Neon is Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals and Boom Bip, so it's worth checking out. They've also got Josh Klinghoffer in their band. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but apparently he was responsible for "Steel Your Girl" on the first one--so I'll say good thing for now.

I'm still a bit annoyed that i didn't manage to get tickets for their next show (it got sold out in less than two hours), but i guess that's how things were meant to be, and there's no way on Earth i'm going to pay a ridiculously inflated price to a street vendor.

Camera Obscura is releasing a new album on June 3rd and will tour. I'm considering going to their show in L.A depending on the price. This venue is said to have terrible and expensive parking thogh and I loving hate that. Seriously why even live in this town if all the good stuff going on is an expensive, time consuming hassle just to be able to get there? I'm excited for the new album though. I can load their entire discography in MusicBee, put it on shuffle and never have to skip anything.

Got to see The Weeks last night and they put on a great show. They'll be touring with Kings of Leon in Europe this summer I think (or maybe Fall, not sure). Anyways, check 'em out if you've never heard them. http://theweeksmusic.tumblr.com/ More interesting was a band that opened for them - Junior Astronomers. I was blown away by how awesome they were. You can get both their tapes for free at bandcamp http://juniorastronomers.bandcamp.com/. My personal favorite song is Fox and the Hound.

So over the last week or so I've heard a couple of songs on the radio by Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hammer who have recorded a bunch of songs from the Child Ballads collection. Which is pretty cool as if you had parents like mine you grew up with Fairport Convention and Pentangle and the like who regularly recorded traditional songs that Child wrote down. Plus, being American their voices sound very different to the versions I'm used to. Anyway, they're super cool and you should check their version of Tam Lin and Geordie

Going to see Pinback live tonight Never seen them before, but I've been listening to them for like...5 or 6 years. I'm not really sure what to expect, but I'm excited. I hope they play some of the classics instead of mostly material from the new album. The new album is decent but pretty forgettable.

The SARS Volta posted:They're great live — they "speed up" a lot of their catalog to make it more concert-friendly. Yeah, they were pretty good. They played literally every single song that I wanted to hear. Some of those I didn't think they'd play, and some I had forgotten I even wanted to hear, but then they kept surprising me by pulling out song after song that I've loved for years and then some of the new stuff as well. You were right about the speeding up. I noticed on a few songs, like Non-Photo Blue was played at what sounded like 125% speed for example. The audience kind of sucked though. I got a lovely spot in the back. I could see just fine, but lots of people around me were either talking over the music, looking down at their phones the entire time, only cheering when Penelope was played, etc. I don't get why some people go to shows if they're not into the music, and that seemed to apply to like half the audience tonight
