Anyone who wants to own YHVH is a Cool Dude™ as far as I'm concerned.

I still vote Demon Jiminez as the coolest of Strange Journey's already cool designs. I feel sorry for Law in comparison, their demons can often look pretty nice but their actual characters suck.

Zelenin's Angel outfit was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Zelenin's angel form was the best only because she was basically Lady Gaga.

Zelenin's design is cool because between her and Nagi, it's apparent that that's just what Kaneko thinks Russian women's eyes look like.

So can anyone here who knows japanese translate here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0X06bzRieE Not everything, I figure Raidou is in Nocturne because licensing, I just want to know WHY he's there and why he's fighting the Demi-fiend.

In fact, he has identical skills to Dante, except his passive buff skill adds Pierce in addition to boosting his overall attack power if I recall.

Seems more like your standard JRPG trope of "wanting to test your strength" especially with Goto warning Raidou not to kill you. I actually kinda like that better than Dante being in there. Both of them feel a little out of place but Raidou a lot less so. Dante just doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game at all.

No, his coat is badass as gently caress. It has little green matrix-numbers on it! How is that NOT COOL. He should ditch those geta, though. Nobody ever looks good in geta.

I openly admit that Dante doesn't fit Nocturne visually (personality-wise is a bit of a toss-up, the most a lot of mainline SMT humans get is a spot on the 'Okay Person->rear end in a top hat' sliding scale), but I have a soft spot for him because his presence seemed to be what gave them the push to actually start releasing Megaten games outside Japan. It's why, after thought, I decided that Fire Emblem was the perfect series to cross over with Megaten; they both started turning up outside Japan because of a popularity bump from a crossover.

After playing my first ever FE game (the 3DS one, enjoying it a lot) I've started looking forward to FExSMT too even if I won't get any of the crossover references.

I wanna chime in and say that I rather liked The Answer. It's hard as loving BALLS, but it walks this weird, thin line of masochistic satisfaction that keeps me from hating it. It's more like Strange Journey than Persona--a series of increasingly difficult challenges that you have to undertake blindly, and strategies that require you to game the hell out of party and enemy A.I. in order to manuever a victory. It's Megaten challenge at its absolutely most brutal, but there's this puzzle aspect to it--when you "solve" a respective boss fight, you'll generally be able to win handidly, even if it gets a little hairy at times. The aforementioned party member tournament is easily the most memorable part of the whole affair, with each series of battles crafting a fiendishly difficult gauntlet that mirrors all of your best stratgies and takes your favorite skills to use against you. The final boss of it all is, thankfully, pretty easy to defeat, and the ending brings a very nice sense of closure to the Persona 3 plot, which it kind of sorely needs since The Journey's ending is sort of...vague.

Yes, it was vague, and that is a good thing. What The Answer did loving ruined that ending.

I haven't actually played The Answer all the way through, but I do think that The Journey has one of the best endings I've seen in a video game. I don't think it needs much else.

Is the general consensus to play Devil Survivor 2 and not worry about DS1 (even if it is Overclocked)? (I just got a 3DS for Fire Emblem and have been meaning to pick up a Devil Survivor game)
|
![]() |
|
Nope. DS1 is very much Worth It.
|
![]() |
|
Honestly, it's pretty mixed. DeSu1 has a much more coherent plot and tone, but you're kind of forced into using a magic build (even in Overclocked, but it is a little bit better) and there are a lot of bullshit escort missions and fights. DeSu2's tone is all over the place, but physical builds are much viable and the Fate system is really cool. I'd recommend starting with Overclocked and if you like it play 2, but if you know you're only ever going to play one of them, play 2.
|
![]() |
|
Ah okay. Thats a good breakdown. I'll just start with Overclocked and see where that takes me haha. Thanks!
|

I haven't played Overclocked or DS2 yet, but I would probably say DS1 is my second-favorite DS game next to TWEWY. It was a lot of fun! I even went through the trouble to play the game 7 times to get every character to appear on the title screen.

Both the DeSu games are great, and basically the best SMT games in recent history.
