Bonus points for a picture including both a steer and a homosexual friend of the photographer, because we know what two things come from Texas.

I half want to get some terrible $40 digital point & shoot that takes AA batteries and isn't worth stealing, and get a second camera going. lovely internal memory only, fill it up, post three best pix of wherever the hell you are.

There's currently an AE-1 w/50mm lens on ebay for $30. If I didn't just buy an EOS-3, I Would pick it up.

I more meant in terms of eliminating the delays involved in people never processing the film, never scanning the film, taking weeks to post an actual image, etc. We'd still get to see the world (other than NYC, you had your chance), just... a bit faster.

Would anybody be down for this if I picked up some terrible digital P&S somewhere for cheap?

I actually just discovered an olympus xa2 buried at the bottom of a backpack. I won't be too bothered if it disappears forever, and it might be a fun second camera to send around. If someone wants to pm me their address, I can send it somewhere.

Edit: not digital obviously, but I already have it so that's something

Yeah I'm sure someone here will have an old P&S they don't mind sending around.

I had a 6MP Kodak from like 2007 that still works fine and I totally would have used for this, but I left it in Australia :(

Actually. I have a canon sd750 that's doing nothing and hasn't been touched in 3 years. Will save you the $ and I can throw in a small mem card

You might want to check the battery and probably get a new one. I've got a SD600 that I never use anymore because all my batteries are toast.

Yeah I'd really prefer something that takes AA or AAA batteries, so nobody gets a lovely battery / loses the charger / etc.

Also I'll take it first if there are no objections, and also :toxx: myself to get it sent out again within ten days of receiving it, or I will probate myself for six hours (on a clean rapsheet) with a (worksafe) reason of the sender's choosing.

That sucks to hear. Battery is tiptop here for the camera. But I get soundmonkey's concern for the charger

And yet a cell phone camera from 10 years ago would probably be better.
How about finding one of those early digital cameras that take floppies for storage, instead?

(I have a camera that's probably electrically identical to that toy in the link. It cost me a total of 10 SEK, less than $2. It's not even worth that.)

EtA: I suppose I could go send that one out about in Europe, but on the other hand I'm not sure I want to inflict the horror of the transfer software on others. It isn't just USB mass storage.

If you don't have a floppy drive somewhere in your household, you are too young.

Also your house sucks, I have like 5 working ones.

Edit: Better yet alongside the camera, could just ship a floppy drive with it.

Even if I had an old internal floppy drive, who even has a machine that has a floppy connector on the motherboard in tyool 2013.

I guess I could get work to buy me an external one but like... why?

My mom until literally this year still used floppy disks to do all of her work.

I thought she'd give up when they stopped building computers with them built-in, but no, she just bought an external drive.

Finally she was forced to change when she began to use powerpoint, which made her files larger than 1.4 megabytes.

Yeah, I was looking at the new Mac Minis for a friend, and I was like "the gently caress, no optical drive?"... then i realized I hadn't even used the one in my laptop in like 2 months or more.

One thing I've noticed is that the tumblr not only had a limit of 10mb for each email, but also a limit of four separate photos too. So my giant spam of images wound up only having 8 show up, instead of ~20.

I'll spread the rest out over the next month or so as other people upload stuff, but it's something to keep in mind!

Wouldn't it make sense to keep track of the camera's voyage with a google map?

And maybe add the location to the latest batch on the tumblr.

EDIT: I was bored anyway, so I added "the story so far" to a map. It's not listed, but everyone can edit it for now. Feel free to do so.
