Phenix Rising posted:What's the story with this belt? They get a key to hang on the belt for every successful title defense? Yep! Each challenger gets a key. If the champion defends, it goes on the key bar. CIMA's current reign has the record for most defenses, so he has all the keys. It's kind of hard to see it on that belt (it's a newer one), but the lock opens the "Dream Gate" door and the champion puts their name plate inside. Here's the old version that got switched out in 2010. More brassy and looks like older puro belts. DG has some gimmicks to each of their belts save their Twin Gate/Tag ones. That's... actually pretty awesome. A great shorthand way of showing whether you're a proper fighting champion or not, and everyone gets a (relatively modest) custom belt. If I weren't so /broke I'd actually make a effort to start following DG.

The belt article on WWE.com mentions one of the prototype designs having a door, but I couldn't visualize how that would have worked.

I fully concede that I may be missing the obvious, but if you already know you've sold so few tickets, why not just comp what's left and maybe make a buck or two on merch? Or was there so little interest that nobody was coming, even for free?

It's hard to get word out on that, particularly without saying 'nobody's coming, please come!', since you don't want to look weak (particularly as a publicly traded company). The second things is you don't want to get a reputation that you can just wait and get free tickets, like TNA does (or at least used to).
