Keep talking.
That stuff is way too mainstream for Seth to write out a notecard about. On the other hand, the Showboat Atlantic City just had their king cake eating contest, and I haven't heard yet who managed to win that super-carb challenge, or whether anyone broke a tooth on an embedded baby.

Yo, dog.
You dead, dog.
I think episode 67 (24:40) is the first time Jah becomes Aaron Neville and it's conspicuously not mentioned on the wiki. It's right after he does Randy Newman singing about Jon Lovitz as Picasso.

Every time Jah sings is a glorious time.

I could see Jah going on about some conspiracy stuff for a good 10 minutes at the end of the episode on the meteor explosion, easy.

Strafe those atheistic degenerates. Color them green with lots of holes.
Is it crazy to not be able to stand the live shows? To this day I have not listened to a single one for more than a minute or two.

Having to listen to the obnoxious audience titter, hoot, and holler at *every* *single* joke and non-joke just irritates the gently caress out of me. I have my own 'groove' when listening to the show and I can't seem to tolerate the stupid audience messing with it.

Again, maybe I'm crazy, but listening to an audience is not UYD at all. It ruins the mood. I can't believe that Seth and Jonathon even enjoy the boisterousness that much. There's a reason why they keep it pure and don't play phone calls from listeners and so on - other people suck and are annoying and get in the way.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a wet blanket. gently caress ya'll.

I normally hate live shows of studio podcasts, but UYD is tolerable. They at least don't change up the format, and if it makes them some $$$ then I don't mind a few a year.

I totally get what you are saying, but I also would like to see them live next time they do a show.

It also kind of goes without saying that it makes me happy just to think that Seth has something other than his mailbox money to buy some Jordans with.

I reckon it's more for the audience and not so much the listener at home. Wouldn't you like to go to a live show just to be there and see them?

The live shows aren't the "pure" UYD that I need and crave, but they are fun to listen to. Jonathon seems to go into entertainment-mode around an audience where he's a little more excitable and jokey-funny and poor Seth always sounds so close to a full-pani; it gives the live shows this kind of crazy nervous energy.

Anyways, like 'em or not, the live shows are the only way to get the occasional taste of retired segments like Craig's-house, or long lost dresser hidden pieces of Jah's poetry.

:love::love::love:
Having attended the Boston show, I can verify that seeing UYD live, in person, is a lot more fun than listening to UYD live, for sure.

I don't mind the live eps but the totally different vibe almost makes it a completely different show. In particular, I don't love how subdued Seth is and how Jonathan kind of (partly out of necessity) takes over the show.

When you're actually there watching it though, the energy is a lot like a concert. All the seemingly out-of-place hootin' and hollarin' suddenly makes sense because the excitement in the room is the same as when you go to see an indie band with a particularly enthusiastic (or rabid) fanbase.

Edit: In Episode 197, near the very end, Jah totally takes a hit off a bong. It's super obvious too. Just the first time that I've noticed.

So I was listening to episode 115 today and Seth is talking about how he thinks he found his adopted grandson Jeff, and it's the Hood Rat Kid from youtube and he's going on about that. Then tonight I turn on my tv and it's on CC and the episode of Tosh.O with the Hood Rat Kid redemption (from 2010) is on. Crazy!

Do it with an amnesiac mental. Can kids have amnesia? "Do you have amnesia? You do? I'm boning down on you." It's the best of both worlds -- "hey wasn't that ice cream great? ice cream we had ice cream?! It's called my dick, you don't remember what it is... but it was peppermint and it was raaad. We went to Baskin Robbins, you got the birthday cake ice cream, and by that I mean I blew you in my basement. Don't remember? We're coool."

Seth Episode 26 on Jah's belief that it's better to bone down with a mentally handicap 11 year old than an able-minded 11 year old.

Feminism is a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.
I think we all knew that the only possible endgame for UYD was its own religion based on an ancient text.

That Lucan thing is (to me, anyway) easily one of the most bizarre stories they've ever had on the show. Just so many weird, inexplicable aspects to it.

And apparently Maron mentions that on this podcast, but Jonah Ray annoys me so I can't confirm.

edit: Skipped through and it starts around 28:30 - nothing that interesting but they're definitely going to be on the show, which is awesome.

What exactly are statistics for UYD plays? I understand that a Marc/UYD podcast would crossbreed plenty of new listeners, but I've always assumed that millions of people listen to the podcast and everywhere they go flocks of seagulls whisp behind their presence since they are literally hierarchy characters of the old testament.

If Seth won't open up on UYD, which seems to be his way to vent in general, I don't see him opening up with another guy that they would probably make fun of on any given day.

He's just a real private guy.

Edit: That story about the weird kid driving around on the quad was crazy. There had to be so much more going on than was reported in that school paper. It helped that Jah played Sun Araw in the background while Seth read it. Some may recognize the artist from the awesome and insane Hotline Miami soundtrack.
