I thought it was cool how the Zhu's Hope colonists turned into some badass guerrillas. I like to think they're doing fine, haha. Another character I wish had some conclusion was the undercover cop you help out on Noveria and Illium. I don't think there's a mention of her anywhere in 3. :(

On Xbox? Did you download both parts?

If you've already gone past the point of no return just finish the game and you'll be dumped back to where you can complete the dlc

Re: Shiala: She probably is doing fine, it's just that I really expected to meet her again in a cutscene one way or another in ME3. Double so if you played a male Shepard without any romance up to ME2. If you do that, she'll give Shepard a kiss in ME2 and I expected that to go somewhere in ME3, or at the very least that this would mean she'd actually get some screen time in ME3, but alas.

As for Gianna Parasini -- I absolutely agree. I really enjoyed meeting her again in ME2 and it would have been really cool to meet her again in ME3, even for just a brief dialogue. She was definitely one of the more memorable characters from ME1.

Yep I've downloaded both parts. All my saves are right before the assault on the base, I'm parked there but have not actually gone into the mission yet. From everything I've read I should be able to start the dlc as long as I haven't started this mission. Frustrating.

I'm like 99% certain I met Shiala in the Casino in Citadel, unless there's another character with a very similar name? She had a little "Hey, Shepard" "Hey, what're you doing here?" convo.

fake edit: Never mind, I'm thinking of the Consort from ME1. D'oh.

I find Lift Grenades to work really well with Liara's Singularity. It rains Cerberus right after. I even once had a trooper bounce right pass Shepard towards the screen.

Release my children! My hat is truly great and mighty.

So I just completed Citadel, having spread out the whole thing across a few evenings. Well, not quite the whole thing, but I'll get back to that.

My initial impressions were mixed, to be honest. It looked good, but I felt that it lacked Omega's polish - though to be fair, Omega was exceptionally polished (one glitchy cutscene notwithstanding). And although Citadel was more challenging than Omega, this hurt the pacing, and I found myself having to resort to hiding in cover much more. I saw the plot twist/reveal coming from miles away, and wasn't very impressed by the overall plot. The mission ended rather sooner than I had initially expected it to, as well. Most of all, though, I wasn't too sure what to think of all the smart-alecky comments from your crew, and at times Shepard's behaviour struck me as out of character. Keep in mind that I've been somewhat of a BioWare/ME3 apologist, and was very pleased with both Leviathan and Omega.

Then I got to the post-mission content, and BioWare brutally shattered my resistance.

Even if the mapping and cutscene quality wasn't quite up to Omega's standards, even if everyone was suddenly a 24/7 comedian, there was just so unbelievably much of it all that I found it impossible not to be both thoroughly impressed and hugely entertained. I think it's absolutely staggering how extensive the actual mission's "epilogue" is in every possible respect. During said mission I had already noticed that they'd written and recorded a ton of dialogue for both major characters and largely inconsequential NPCs, but there's even more of it afterwards. As indulgent as the whole thing arguably is, what with the near endless stream of (frequently self-referential) gags and the whole party angle, you'd have to be a particularly sour, boring stick-in-the-mud type of person not to enjoy it. It's hours of pure fun with characters you've come to love, some of whom shine like never before (Zaeed, I thought, was particularly amazing).

And if that's not enough to persuade you, perhaps knowing that it adds a terrific combat sim will. It's so elaborate, you'd normally expect it to be a standalone piece of DLC. I've yet to go through all the challenges and get all the unlocks, but I imagine it'll take me several hours at least. Frankly, I think the combat sim is almost enough to justify Citadel's price on its own.

In the end, though, what matters most to me is how much time Citadel devotes to further humanising (as it were) Shepard and crew, and to celebrating their characters. If there is any DLC in existence that does a better job than Citadel of concluding a game, and giving all its heroes a great big send-off, I want to see it. Citadel is the feelgood ending that you probably wanted all along (but which you might not have admitted). I think it's delightful, and an essential purchase for anyone who's ever enjoyed a Mass Effect game.

This guy knows what's up. 100% agree with everything, especially the combat sim being worth the price of admission alone (I CAN HAVE KASUMI AND JACK BACK?! BIOWARE REDEMPTION ZONE).

If Citadel is an indication of things to come, I'm optimistic about Bioware in a way that I haven't been since... I guess Dragon Age Origins (and even that had major problems, such as nearly everyone having bog standard wooden "elves and poo poo" fantasy personalities and High English accents. I'm looking at you, Morrigan. You're not Posh Spice, stop it.

While it seems the talk about the endings will never fully go away, I'm glad the negativity around it has died down somewhat. While I can understand why people wouldn't like it, I never understood why people were so upset with Bioware. Especially considering how much work they've put into this game just for the fans. Free multiplayer content, a lot of new content for an expanded ending, and 3 post game DLCs that have been good quality in my opinion.

As for Citadel: Love it. It really is like visiting an old friend, and I find myself feeling bittersweet about the whole thing. I'd love to be able to play all three games as if for the first time. That would be wonderful.

Also, the Jack romance was so well done, I've restarted playing ME2 just to give the whole thing another go.

Thanks Bioware.

I should probably add that gaining access to what amounts to the funpark area of the Citadel is great, too. Also, thinking of that reminds me of one of my favourite (if entirely trivial) things from the entire DLC: there's a varren named Nice Beans and you can place bets on it. I loving love that name.

Oh! I also giggled like an idiot about the Towers of Hanoi game, and Shepard's reaction to it. I do like it when BioWare poke fun at themselves.

We're all doomed
The combat sim is awesome. There's even a small side mission involved with the simulations that ends in it glitching out with a Platinum multiplayer difficulty style clusterfuck with boss enemies everywhere. Tali ended up being a poor choice there as she died a hilarious amount of times, Kasumi held her own though. "Armax VI: Tali'Zorah is down!" over and over. It's so cool that they brought (most) of the old squad back in. Too bad they didn't have holographic versions of Mordin, Thane, and Legion you could use though.

I finished Citadel through the party, and wow, that was really well done. Even Mordin has a little cameo that I almost missed--there's a datapad in one of the bedrooms with some recordings of him saying stuff (that's on par with Scientist Salarian in terms of quality). My favorite by far was the noir story. "Looks like I broke the only rule of Omega...in more ways than one."

That was really good. The only thing I disliked about Citadel was the little messages and gifts only lasted for that 'instance' of the apartment. They really should've been permanent additions that accumulated, especially considering none of them conflict with one-another (for example, say, there aren't two separate visits that involve the piano).
