I think paladins are in the same boat as SKs, wars don't need to pick up any spell support AAs like the knights do. They get to focus on defensive and aggro abilities. Knights need all those plus spell and support AAs.

Check the last two pages. 99% of us in the thread are playing primarily on Test now.

fyi, SK tanks blow until they're about 3k AA deep. i don't know how reliant warriors and paladins are when it comes to AA but i don't think they need as many before they become effective.

that being said, i'm 96 with about 3800 AA and i'm tanking RoF missions with ease.

My original post was kind of scatterbrained, but I guess I should specify I'm not really worried about my SK's actual tanking ability. I'm 99 with 7k AA and almost all my augs are 30+ac with hagi/hdex wearing basically the best t1 rof gear.

I wanted more to focus on the power curve aspect where I was getting stronger and stronger and then weaker against mobs. It's not that I can't handle them.. many of them without even a cleric it's just that the huge damage/hp jump just makes me feel weaker. That being said my SK is basically superfluous (at least on test where there aren't any groups.) My necro can do everything my SK can and still solo named mobs.

I guess I do just feel burnt out because I can't muster the effort to log in and actually finish off 100. I'm kind of regretting playing on the test server now because there's basically nothing left once I do that. I can get the t2 rof gear but most of it is a very, very minor upgrade compared to what I'm wearing. I don't really want to go back to live a server as I'm only 78 on my sk and 73 on my necro on Luclin. I also don't really feel like leveling a necro/sk on live when I've seen all the upgrades and know how they play at the top level. I debated starting a brand new class but it seems like a ton of work/time.

There's nothing wrong with test, specifically, actually almost all the goons playing there are pretty cool dudes.

Short answer: nothing

Long answer: raiding, grouping, having an economy to mess around with. All with the caveats that I probably wouldn't actually have the dedicated time to raid and I, personally, hate multi boxing.

The most likely answer has nothing to do with test itself but more that it basically allowed me to fast track to 100 and the best group gear and, since that's the end game on test, left me with nothing to do.

I don't know what MQ2 is either.

Oh, this is good to know. So, since I am level 80 on my characters and with significantly less than 2k AA, I should probably use the double exp weekend to get some levels rather than AA.

Not sure what you mean by this. Additive or multiplicative wouldn't matter. As far as I understand it, 100% AA takes whatever normal xp you receive and alters it based upon your current AA counts' modifier.

There is something ridiculous like a 2500% boost at 0 aa. On double exp weekend it is 2600%. That's how it works and that's why I said you wouldn't notice it.

Some web page out there has a formula for mob exp, but the only modifier that affects the actual exp from a mob is the hot zone modifier.

Interesting thanks for the info. Only thing that made me ponder your initial post was that when I used xp pots, I notice a significant increase in AA xp @ 400aa's.

I sent the Rogue Abstruse to Superghost - boots got kicked back, I assume for being lore and you already having them.

Unfortunately I can't do Beastlord Abstruse, since that's a leather class. If anyone wants to donate a set of leather templates on Firiona Vie, I can add it to my repertoire.

No one else is in the queue for silk/chain/plate Level 80 Abstruse, though, so feel free to hit me up with your name and class if you need a set.

Also - does Lesson xp bonus work the same as the weekend bonus? So it's less effective on AAs? That would be a shame... although maybe give me some incentive to actually do levels instead of grinding out the AAs.

And no, lesson xp does not work the same as weekend xp. Lesson/potions is way more effective for AA.

330 Dream Motes will fill up every non-vis slot for your toons with level 80 gear. If you do HOT prog, you can unlock higher tiers of the non-vis items and sell old ones back for 21 DM a pop, so upgrades will only cost you 9 DM per slot. You'll also earn an assload of DM by doing prog.

Nah that's not quite how it works. The 1000% to 0% boost (scaling linearly from 0 AA up to 4000 AA - used to be 2500 until a patch last year) is innate and "stacks" with all XP bonuses, such as Test bonus, double xp weekend and Lesson/potions.

Here's now the XP bonuses work: Each "double xp" bonus is +100%, additive. A 50% bonus xp potion is obviously just +50%. This means:

Base XP gain: 100%
Test bonus: +100%
Double xp weekend: +100%
Lesson: +100%

Total: 400% (four times normal) xp gained per mob. So, popping a lesson or having double xp on Test isn't as super noticable as it is on Live, as it merely gives you +50% xp, but it's still worth it.

Most people use them to buy Gold Tickets, used in the Shadowhaven Casino. Read more here. Another use of them is to buy the "of peace" potion, which can reset old factions. Other than that, I don't think there's much use of them. Note that it's best to buy Gold Tickets on live, then copy them over. Just buy one and copy is en masse to save crowns.

There's a lot more stuff on the loyalty vendor. You can also buy anchors that let you teleport to the house or guild hall they are placed in, you can buy expendable tokens each with one charge of a 96% resurrection spell, and an item that summons a rabbit pet to attack your target for a little bit. Hits for about 1.5k damage at level 100. You can buy some of the alternate currencies like dream motes. There's an item that lets you get another character slot on your account.

There is a lot of cool stuff from what I was reading, although I was mainly looking for a way to get plat by using Loyalty tokens. The only way I can see this being possible is Gold Tickets, considering Bags of Platinum are only for gold members.

Considering me and my friend aren't playing on the test server, getting a boost by getting platinum through Loyalty points seems like a good move.

If you don't have the actual gate spell, buy both of the anchors from loyalty. They come in handy WAY more than you'd think. I'm also partial to the gingerbread merc just because seeing a horde of angry gingerbread men beating something's face in is great.

Illa and mystery Povar goon - you were right last night about SKs. Ended up with a named + 2 trash mobs at the same time once and I had to burn discs, but the single cleric merc still had no trouble keeping me alive. Me and my buddy specifically discussed this, and we came to the conclusion that if we started on Luclin we could easily just transfer to test in the long run, if it didn't work out. I'm sure you have the best intentions and I honestly don't mean this in a spiteful way but what you're saying makes no sense. On test you get level 25 instantly with gear for free (if you want), you can reset your aa whenever you want, plat is never an issue, you can have journeyman mercs without paying for gold, you get all expansions unlocked, the base xp rate is doubled, and you don't ever really need to troll the bazaar for gear every 5 levels.

Oh and last night (accounting for people boxing and despite that fact that its double xp weekend) there were probably around 20-30 goons online. So unless you have a guild or something on Luclin that you love playing with and don't want to leave for that reason, I'd really really recommend transferring over to test.

test is cool and all for free expansions and free gold membership but, for me, it takes away the point of the game. it lacks meaningful progression, serious competition, and has no market to speak of. plus, with the addition of krono, it takes me 6 to 8 hours to farm enough plat to support three accounts without having to pay for a subscription.

not trying to knock on the goons that do play on test, but i understand why some, including myself, wouldn't.
