Technically, human after all was received rather poorly than the other albums. It was slammed critically when it was released. It barely broke the top billboard top 100. People only revisited it and say they love it when it was recontextualized for the alive tour/live album. I've yet to find someone who, when asked to play Steam Machine, play the album version. Using a linage from human after all to this album, I'm deathly excited.

Just found out that M83 are doing the soundtrack for Tom Cruises upcoming movie Oblivion. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/m83-conquers-the-silver-screen-in-starwaves-song-premiere-20130306 There's a teaser song on that link and it sounds pretty good, might watch that movie after all, if not only for the music.

Yeah twitter was making George upset, but you can just hang out in the bar right next to the Metro and you should be good. It's pretty huge and not completely awful. I'll hit you up on FB or something. P a r t y

Saw Bloody Beetroots in London last night and that live show is really something, it adds so much life to the music over a couple of CDJs and a mixer. Bob was flying about the place like a man possessed and at one point swung the mic around so hard the cable snapped and it got launched into the audience. Dude can really play a loving guitar too, he was beating the poo poo out of that thing like a seasoned pro. The strangest thing about the evening was the opening acts, Stenchman who played a really solid set, High Rankin who was fun as all gently caress and some twats called Cutline who played pretty much the same song over and over for an hour, same loving Massive presets the whole way through. At one point one of them said "If you've been wondering where we've been, we've been in the studio making this poo poo" which summed it up wonderfully... Generally the music from these lot was a bit of d'n'b, an absolute fuckton of terrible produced in Massive buttstep and a fair wedge of trap music. There was a tiny bit of electro/techno kinda stuff which fitted better with BBs but it was rare as hell. It just made them all the more refreshing when they did get on stage.

Ultra people: which hotels do you recommend looking into? As kind of a spur of the moment thing I was thinking about making the drive down from MI to go for the hell of it. Tickets are still available(and $300, yeow, DEMF is only $100 still and we consider THAT high) but I'm not sure what the hotel situation is like there.

ashgromnies posted:Ultra people: which hotels do you recommend looking into? Couch surf it! Way more practical since you wont really be sleeping much. edit: I only suggest that because if you think 300$ is expensive, then between the gas, food, etc you are looking at paying a lot more for a hotel at this point. Unless you decide to stay in ft lauderdale and then youre still looking at 150$/night.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, or if the NYC thread is, but what are some small time clubs (more so dj venues) that play EDM and real house-y style dance music in NYC? Obviously not guido, fist pumping poo poo, but underground and burgeoning DJs spinning fun tracks to dance to. Preferably a place that lets people under 21 in, like 285 Kent.

Does anyone have any experience with a drip.fm membership? I was thinking about joining the Dirty Bird one, but I live in Tucson so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of any of the party guest list stuff. How many songs do they distribute a month? Just trying to figure out if it's worth the $10/mo. For content: https://soundcloud.com/krystalklear/krystal-klear-feat-jenna-g

I was on it for a year, and usually you got a release per week, sometimes just a single (two tracks), sometimes an EP (three or four tracks), and occasionally an album or compilation; could download them as .WAV o 320 .MP3, no difference in price. There were maybe two weeks where they did not have anything prepared, and a few times the planned release had to be moved but those weeks they'd try to give you an exclusive. If you're a fan of the label and buying digital copies of their stuff already, it's worth checking out. I also got a sample pack (a small one, but interesting to go through), and a CD copy of the Hatched compilation. Cancelled my subscription though because I am not DJ'ing as much lately (not looking for gigs), wasn't using the music much, used the beginning of the new year as time to trim my budget a little.

I went to Ultra last weekend and it made my week the best spring break I've ever had by a mile. I was really underwhelmed by all the closing sets, but that's probably because I'm not a huge fan of Deadmau5, Benassi, or SHM. Kaskade, Tritonal, and Fedde le Grand played my favorite sets.

Right before Dave gave away the first EP, I told him he should make up some story about being a Hispanic kid growing up in the Netherlands, being in to Dutch house and reggaeton, trying to find a way to bring them together. He and Matt laughed about the idea, and a week later Munchi got in touch with them.
