Well, I'm working on an OP right now. Its not gonna be fancy or anything special, since I'm a pretty bad writer; but as long as it spreads the Dowman, I'll be happy. Also I sent Zorak a heads-up via PM, so I'm gonna wait for his response before I post any threads.

edit: zorak said its cool. i'll finish this op later then.

The reason I mention Dowman in particular is because MOST of his work is like that... except the porn is often indistinguishable from his stuff that technically isn't porn. It's all weird stream of consciousness poo poo, some of it just has dicks in it.

Mostly I just don't want to see vkeios probated because Zorak decided Voynich or whatever was outside his comfort zone.

I'm of the opposite opinion really. I will always check the mega threads for something interesting, but will rarely check the the specific threads unless its something that comes out regularly enough (so pretty much a weekly series) which generates a lot of discussion. The discussion of series with slower release schedules is more suited to these threads and keeps them interesting.

And then they hosed for 4 pages without touching him with her hands because that's totally a good thing to do if you're blind, have a nasty fever, and are stuck in a sewer.

You know how sometimes when you're leaning back on the back legs of a chair and you lean back just a bit too far and the chair starts to fall back and you scramble to lean forward and prevent the fall and you have that brief instant in your head where you're simultaneously falling freely without restraint and you're struggling with all your might to right yourself and it seems to last far longer than it possibly could and it's over in an instant before you can even register the feeling?

That's kind of how Dowman Sayman's manga works.

I'm going to tentatively recommend Tanaka Yutaka's My Lovely Ghost Kana.
It's about a guy who gets a girlfriend...only she's a ghost! WAIT Hold on, I'm not done yet!
The manga is really sweet and is written in the author's trademark minimalistic style. It is full of happy moments and really good for feeling :3: and :unsmith:

Fair warning: The manga contains a lot of sex scenes because the author has the crazy notion that teenagers who are in love have sex. He is also big on partners being honest with each other and advancing their relationship, contrary to many other stories.
Still, it doesn't really pick up until about chapters 5-8, so hold off your judgements until then. The second volume starts to have more focus on the other characters and their interaction with Kana, which is the point when the manga really gets in gear.

Check out the author's other works, although many of them are also quite explicit. Further warning: Ai Ren is the most :smithicide: thing in the world. It's the only manga to ever get tears out of me.

If this is too much for the thread, tell me and I'll remove it.

I don't read much Manga but Sumire 16's ending brought tears to my eyes, oh god.

I'm kinda sad that the kids from Sumire's past vanished and so did the puppeteer woman. Everyone else got to be seen later. :smith:

I was also a little confused by

How, if every 3 years, he starts Sumire again or whatever, she could HAVE an elementary school life.

DrSunshine posted:

Maybe the old guy is actually super duper old, and he restarts these cycles in batches. So he could have restarted Little Sumire three or four times, followed by middle school Sumire, then High School Sumire. Perhaps the current loop is just the second iteration of the third batch.

Maybe he's immortal.

I assumed the old guy is a benevolent spirit or something.

Puppet woman was less devoted to her role, what was getting depressed when Sumire and Sakura were swapped so I really wanted to know what her deal was. I also will choose to believe Sumire's puppeteer does acknowledge the rest of our heroines somehow. :unsmith:

Unfortunately there's one other character who inexplicably vanishes. There's that boy with social anxiety early on who ends up getting a crush on Sumire. He actually started developing as a character and becoming a real friend of the group, and then he just disappeared and never showed up again. I was disappointed, I liked where his arc seemed to be going.

I really feel like the manga was cut short and there was a lot more planned than was made. I mean I'm glad the manga was stretched out for hundreds of volumes, but I kinda wish more characters got developed.

Yeah, I get that feeling too, what with the last few chapters, but this particular happening takes place less than halfway through the series, long before even the puppeteer girl shows up. He just disappears while the series was still going strong.

Wasn't it only five volumes and like 70 chapters?

The author's post-commentary said something about how the whole thing was only supposed to be a one-off story at first, so maybe he just didn't know what to do with the characters at the end?

Not that I wouldn't want there to be more or anything. :v:

I think Silva might fit in here. It's about a middle school student who is part of an evil organization out for world conquest. It reminds me a little bit of a more cartoonish Sunred in that the evil organization isn't particularly evil (or organized) and when heroes show up they're kinda jerks.

Here's a manga that was linked in the Seinen Discussion Thread. It's titled

Ryushika Ryushika

It's about a little girl with a really wild imagination. I think kids live halfway in a surreal imaginary world; I remember being like this myself, when I was little. Hence, I believe it fits the thread pretty well. Just take a gander at these scenes.
