I don't think you get it, let me try to explain it to you. He kissed a dude ON. THE. MOUTH. Like he talks about banging chicks n' stuff then turns around and kisses a dude?!? That's not real at all! I personally require my rappers to keep it real and be in danger of being shot on the corner any time any where.

(Tha Carter 1 is great, and is prob my favorite lil wayne album. Although that is in a big part thanks to mr fresh)

I promise I didn't pay Wayne any attention when Tha Carter 1 came out. My high school class voted it album of the year I was what the gently caress? Wayne album of the year? Then I went to the club and heard Bottom of the Map and Go DJ and I was like woah who the gently caress is this? Then Carter 2 came out and the rest is history.

You could've at least said TI.

Look, all personal poo poo aside, Wayne was legendary during the first two Carters and all surrounding mix tapes and features. Listening to "We Don't" makes me believe he could've wrecked anyone during that time. It was during the Carter 3 when he became half legend, half hot garbage.

TI is the only one that comes close to that kind of run. Now lets all dream about one more classic Carter album that will never happen :allears:

EDIT: drat Yelawolf looks rough! Has he not been eating good at Shady?

Oh man. That Yelawolf tune is great! The quick transition from Raekwons slow verse into Killer Mikes fire is loving sick. Yelawolfs poo poo at the end also works. And that beat is gorgeous. I had no intention of downloading tmr but that song has changed my mind.

I've heard dozens of Lil Wayne's verses because he is one of the few artists that has been consistently played in public. And there has never been a moment when I've heard a Lil Wayne verse and thought I wanted to hear more. I have never downloaded a Lil Wayne mixtape in my life.

Hey guys I've never listened to Dr Dre and only heard him on features, on the new Kendrick album his verse was poo poo so I didn't check out anymore of his stuff. He also seems to be a bit of a prick on that MTV documentary I saw. Therefore I think hes poo poo. Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer > Dr Dre.

edit: Did I mention that despite having never listened to any of his albums, I still want him to die?

I never really thought about just how popular Dedication 2 and Drought 3 were.

They got tons of play from people I knew but I always just chalked it up to the confluence of being in college and expanding my interest in rap beyond Tupac, Jay, Biggie, and Wu Tang.

I kind of fell out of mixtapes once I got busy after graduation and the only two I've downloaded since 2008 were Kendrick's and Big KRIT's. Obviously those got pretty popular, but how do they compare to Wayne's?

Are we talking album-level popularity?

Dipset is a lot harder to defend than Wayne. First, State Property over Dipset. Chris and Neef is arguably the inspiration for Jay's style after they came out. Peedi and Freeway are solid. We had this discussion before. Dipset lead to Cam becoming a parody of himself but still entertaining. A friend of mine grew up with Cam and even he doesn't defend Dipset era Cam. Dipset was fun but there is special breed of rear end in a top hat that started listening to hiphop around that time that co-signs Wayne and Dipset and those fans can eat it. Dipset got crushed by 50 on accident so that's the strength of of their movement. But I'll still give Dip some credit mainly for Cam's contributions.

Plus, that era lead to Complex's best list: http://www.complex.com/music/2011/10/camrons-10-most-ignorant-moments/
