Apparently Cryptopsy released a new album last year but nobody cared? The album's surprisingly good but I guess after The Unspoken King nobody gives a poo poo about them. poo poo I used to live/breathe the band (I even have a tattoo of their demon thing) and I just now found out about this album like five months later.

I find this weird too, I didn't even realize they had a new full length until like a week ago. It's pretty good. I think a lot of people, like me, got it confused with the best-of tape that they also released. I was like "new Cryptopsy.. oh wait that's the greatest hits thing isn't it? who cares!"

Can anyone recommend similar sounding things to Elitist's latest album? Last time I asked this question I got recommended Heart in Hand, Heartless, and The Divided, which were loving excellent recommendations (as well as bands I'm already familiar with like Counterparts and Misery Signals). Reshape Reason just hits such a perfect sweet spot for me of melodic-ness with awesome breakdowns while also adding some technicality without being overbearing.

I hate to be self-promotey, but i'm curious to hear thoughts on my band's new song hey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lrHIJiuUtI got to play with Aegaeon a few weeks ago. they were ridiculously tight and heavy live. i'd never heard them before and was really impressed. their recorded music kinda pales in comparison but it's still pretty cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgzR_g7b85A

Finally got hold of August Burns Red's Leveler... Holy poo poo is it good. The guitar work is great and the vocals/bgv's have gotten so much better since their first release. I suddenly remembered that I have a last.fm. Looks like it's been that and In Flames for the past few days

Good Will Hrunting posted:I mean I know it's him but holy poo poo part of that chorus screams Howard. Unless something changed, they originally wrote this album with Howard in mind. One of the first interviews with Leach after it was confirmed he was coming back to KSE was that he just got all the demos they worked on and was trying to digest/learn them. So unless they scrapped all of those songs and started over, this is really just a KSE album with Jesse Leach doing vocals instead of Howard. I think the album after this one will be interesting, because it'll be the first time since Alive or Just Breathing that Jesse will be part of the writing process.

Does anything similar to Down I Go exist? In particular I love their Gods EP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud6qGFH6pjE What I really like is the unstable momentum of their songs. I would love to hear something else with riffs like the beginning of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F-51pGSXfc I don't think I'd have much luck in the rec' thread so I was hoping to ask here first.

They were one of the openers on ETID's current (or most recent) tour--the one with Acacia Strain and No Bragging Rights. You know I really didn't think all that much of BTBAM's last release Paralax II because I listened to it and went "Eh, more of the same" For some reason I've been listening to it again for the past ~month and....this is a drat fine album. Yeah, it doesn't sound very different from Colors/Great Misdirect, but I honestly think it's better than Misdirect and neck-and-neck with Colors now.

Misery Signals have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund and release their new album: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/new-full-length-album-from-misery-signals?c=home Full disclosure, I'll be creating the artwork for the album. And what I've listened to of it so far is fantastic.

I love OMaMH and really like Mirrors and Controller, but not $40 a record love/like them.

As someone who has seen the hilarious royalty checks they get from WB first hand (Warner owns Ferret), this is a much better way to ensure that not only does their material wholly belong to them, but also that the support of the fans who love them goes directly to the band instead of being chipped away into nothing as the label and their A&Rs take their cut.

Speaking of things that are about music, the new KSE tape is here and it's extremely good! For me, they're one of those few bands whose new album always becomes my favorite one (Parkway Drive, All Shall Perish and Acacia Strain are the others). It's another step in the sort of direction that the last one was going, i.e. heavier but more melodic (??) as it contains a lot of blastbeats and also "galloping" guitar parts, which along with ya boy Jesse Leach's singing makes it feel a lot more like Alive or Just Breathing than you might expect. But as someone noted previously, the singing parts are more Howard's style, which I actually prefer. And ugh, what a relief that this sounds nothing like that Jesse/Adam side project Times of Grace which was pretty bland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqRTHUSG1G0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77CQtwNXJuc Why, I've only listened to it twice through and I already love it! The last one took several listens to really grow on me. I am very pleased with this tape.
