The Kill Bill one is exactly it. I can't thank you enough. For some reason I thought it was in a trailer for a buddy cop movie so I've been watching as many buddy cop movie trailers as I could remember. It's been driving me crazy. Thanks so much.

Looking for a song, a kinda punk ska song where the chorus went "And all of my days, and all of my nights, I want to be with you," (bolded for emphasis, the rhythm went Da dadadada, Da dadadada, dadada DA DA DA) I'm pretty sure it was just called Be With You, and I could have sworn I got it from a Give Em The Boot CD, but that doesn't seem to be it based on the tracklistings I found. Which makes me think someone gave it to me on a mix cd or something.

Is there an origin song for either of the main default Chinese musical cues that are used in tv, movies, and by standup comedians to indicate Chinese music? Example of one is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrEOZk23FzA, can't find a yt of the second but the short version is five chords, I guess rendered as 'ching ching cha-ching ching'

Will.i.am/Britney's Scream & Shout has a beat that reminds me of this 90s song whose video got decent airtime on muchmusic/mtv. I don't remember exactly what was going on, but pretty sure the video starts with this orange puppet, duck-looking guy, sitting at a desk in an office in a big factory. A beat starts and he starts headbanging to the beat. It was a silly video. e: page three of googling "music video headbang to beat" surprisingly found a forum thread with the answer at the end Mr. Oizo - Flat Beat Not how I remembered it haha, very strange that S&S triggered my memory of it Pweller fucked around with this message at 02:22 on Mar 17, 2013 |

EDIT: Never mind, this is Intro by The xx. I knew I knew it. Ugh, I hate blanking on songs I already know like that. Here's my latest unknown obsession that's been driving me nuts. There's a repeating low and slow pattern that goes something like: dumm dum dum dum dum dum, duh dumm dum dum dum dum dum, duh dumm dah dum dum dum dum dum Slow tempo. I tapped out around 130-140 bpm, but I wouldn't give that figure much weight really. I think it's entirely instrumental, but I'm not sure. I believe there may be some keys or strings laid overtop of this, but my memory is unreliable here. This song has been getting some radio airplay, because I've heard it around when I'm out and about (I don't really listen to music-playing radio stations, but I've heard it from time to time when at stores, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.), but I have no idea how long it's been out. I'd guess a year or two, max. I'm pretty certain I've heard it as an interstitial/bump on NPR too. minidracula fucked around with this message at 17:24 on Mar 18, 2013 |

I've always been curious, what is the sort of music that appears at the beginning of this ad? Like, what genre is it? And where can I hear more? I've always kind of enjoyed this sort of "Twang Blung-a-Blung Blunggg" music, and I've heard it in little clips in scenes in movies and games like Starcraft and such.

I'm trying to find this song I heard on the radio while driving late at night once, it was really creepy. I think it had like bells ringing and strings, sort of like the intro to a Pink Floyd song or something. The only thing I'm sure of is, there was this creepy voice that came on at some point, sounding almost as if someone was talking backwards and reversed, that said "bad news...bad news!" I'd like to hear it again.

Be sure to flip the recording backwards to hear what Jeff Lynne is saying at that point. It walks the border between pretentious and hilarious.

There's a song I heard constantly on 'alternative' radio stations around 1994/1995...it's very moody & drenched in reverb and has this drawn out, bending, somewhat dischordant guitar chord that drops a semitone (as if played with a slide), repeated several times in the song. I was sure it's a Morrissey song because it sounds just like him in my head, but I've checked every track from his albums of that period and can't find it. I can't post any lyrics because as I said, it was so drenched in reverb the words didn't really "fix" in my brain because I couldn't understand them. e: I may be wrong, but possible lyrics may be (partially) "anybody out there" beatlegs fucked around with this message at 07:58 on Mar 24, 2013 |

I saw this German documentary on the Spear of Destiny. It's making pretty liberal use of some movie soundtrack (or more than one), but I'm drawing a complete blank where it's from right now. Something fantasy-ish, I think. Maybe Lord of the Rings, but I'm not sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e4p077x-Dw One familiar piece is right at the start, one at 9:40, at 11:40, another very familiar piece at about 34:50. Got a couple of songs I need help identifying. First is a pretty weird pop song. It's a man and a woman singing; I'm pretty sure the woman is Nico, and the man might be Serge Gainsbourg, though I'm not completely sure. It's got quite a dreamy monotonous sound. The chorus is a four-syllable phrase repeated once - tonally it goes something like "1-1-1-2, 3-3-3-1" - that I think is a name, probably of an historical figure. Second is another pop song that sounds like it's from the 60s or 70s. It's a man and a woman, who are singing completely different songs. The man sings a cool 4/4 cowboy-type song, but the woman sings a dreamy waltz. The whole song just cuts between the two, more frequently as the song progresses, until by the end there's a cut after each line of lyrics.
