I wanna live in that house. I'll just be chillin' in the lounge room and the Giraffe will pop his head in and say "Wassup bro?" and I'll be like "Nothin' much bro." Then there'll be a short period of awkward silence before the Giraffe leaves and we'll each go about our own business for the rest of the day.

I almost got one of those a few days ago too (Long Island), but I politely turned it down. It's a Jehova's Witness thing, in case anyone was wondering. It's billed as "a memorial service for Jesus". (Since I'm a Christian of non-specific denomination I just said it doesn't make sense to have a memorial for someone who's alive. Then everyone in the theater stood up and applauded.)

In my experience pretty much everywhere depictions of Jesus look like the local population/church makeup, racially speaking, whether by deliberate choice or by historical artists worldwide often filtering foreign/historic looks through local eyes and styles. Though then until fairly recently Arabs weren't considered terribly less white than a lot of Europeans by most people I knew. Not that there wasn't stereotyping or racist treatments, but not unlike those the poorer parts of Europe got.

I had a tour of one of the Jehovah's Witnesses' major offices a year or so ago (the result of a conversation that did not go as planned), but let me tell you this: If the Taliban had the organizational coherence that the Jehovah's Witnesses' have then I wouldn't have been able to write this post. I would've been limping along in agony trying to remember what happened and why everything is burning and wondering how I'm still alive instead.
